Running thread

It's odd as it's only in one foot and could be other factors too but I'll keep an eye on it and do some strength training.

I should (and usually am) quite supple due to doing yoga twice a week (and pilates).
Good luck with those trainers. They're a lovely looking shoe.
I had an achilles problem and it dragged on a while. Probably caused by old shoes.
Massage of the tendon (up and down and also rolling it in fingers) to break down any scar tissue really helped. To start with the tendon felt like bubble wrap!
Avoid running up hills as that puts a lot more strain on it & warm up slowly.
Good luck.

Thanks mate.
I'll try that.

Quite rare I get this and I do it's usually gone in a day or two but this has been weeks (with one of the suspects being those Hoka Cliftons which have had a few pointers to heel pain.

I hope it's not that - I love them and they weren't cheap!

I'll try the massage you mentioned (along with some exercises).
I've also picked up a really tight hamstring (muscle area on the back of my thigh) - could be a mix of return to running and starting swimming again.

I am trying to walk equal to 365 half marathons with a calender year.

I am almost there , it works out I have about 28 half marathons to do.

There is about 27800 steps in 13.1 miles however I am rounding it up to 28000, which leaves me with a total of 10220000 in the year to do.

Somedays when I can I do more than half a marathon to make up for the days when I will be too busy with life things or the weather is shit.

Fantastic effort that mate. Must take you some time to fit that in each day. If you are based in Barca I have had a few long days walking around that great City, a beautiful building on every corner.

On my way to Alexandra Parkrun yesterday I heard on the radio about this guy, running 365 marathons this year, raising funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.

All his runs are where he lives, up in Cumbria, except for Salford yesterday and London today. He's managed 325 so far.

Epic running, that.

Been following his runs this years - it’s mind blowing now he is doing this

The physio massaged
my achiles also and recommended stretches such as the single leg calf raise, soleus stretch standing, dynamic calf raise. Like I said suffered twice but both times cleared up in a matter of days.

yes and I have found places which locals did not know.

The actual city of Barcelona is quite small, you can walk from one end of the city and even beyond within 3-4 hours allowing for stops at traffic lights and maybe a coffee.

it has joined cities like hospitalet, and towns, something like Manchester into Salford etc.

On average it takes me around 4-5 hours to get 28 000 steps in, recently I've found a new route where there is less people and traffic and can get around 20 miles (42 000 steps in 6.5 hours (meal and spliff breaks included.)
