Running thread

Hi Inchy14 . You seem.localish , do you ever run the Great Run local at Salford Quays ?

No mate but they’ve started that at Bogart hole clough on a Sunday which is a stones through away from me.

I’ll see you there in a couple of weeks when Heaton Park isn’t on.

You doing Heaton Park this Saturday? New route now.

Well I described myself as a dark haired Boris Johnson to inchy and he spotted me from 426 people. So look out for me.

Couldn’t miss you!!

Yeah, do Heaton nearly every weekend, I’ll be there on Sat - did the new route last weekend on its first outing. Very weird having done over 100 runs on old route to get used to doing it differently. Fun though.

Travelled up to the Manchester 1/2 last year. 1hr 43min. Below par but so many bottlenecks (Etihad being one). Oh and avoiding bumble bees (understandable of course) Revolucion de Cuba was a great recovery venue. Met Andy burnham outside while having a snout. Nob.

Anyway since then done 5 10k events and a tough mudder (full of cunts)

Joking aside. Well done anyone picking up the mantle. It’s really worth it. Physically and mentally

The consensus was that it’s supposed to be quicker as you get cardiac hill out of the way earlier and have the big downhill near the end, I didn’t think it was though as found it hard to take advantage of the downhill after 4k has gone. Looking at the times recorded I don’t think it was quicker, very similar in fact.

OK mate.

I ran the trial they did on the Wednesday night to see what it was like, felt it was similar myself but obviously you're not swept along the same as only 100 or so were there that day, might give it a go in the morning.

I really struggle to keep myself motivated for running. I can do a month or so, then something will happen that busts the rhythm and struggle to get it back.

So i've taken another approach, which is active travel. Now i either run (or cycle) to work, for some reason it's much easier for me mentally to keep it up. I guess because it's a journey i have to do anyway, whether it's bus, car or whatever.

Lacks variety admittedly, but can vary the pace at least.
