Running thread

23 min 5k yesterday, which included a 3:57 last K which has been my fastest K for some time.

Got a 10 miler along the bleach on sunday which, in my current condition, would settle for a 1:25 -1:30 finish.

I’ve just been doing 5k’s this week, one more tomorrow, climbing Skiddaw tomorrow then starting 10k’s on Monday.

Fantastic way to spend the day. How tough/long is Skiddaw and how easy is the route to follow? Might give it a go over christmas.

Just starting to ramp it up a bit of late with the hope some events are on next year.

Haven’t done it before mate, looks like it’s about 10k so I’m guessing it’ll take us about 3-4 hours up and down with breaks. It’s one of Wainwright’s and I’ve not done it before, think it’s the 6th highest in England. Weather looks good so hopefully I’ll keep dry unlike last weekend doing loughrigg fell.....

Sounds great that. I need to be a bit more adventurous with my exercise, rather than just running the same routes all the time and mix it up with strenuous walks etc

Got a pup this year so its a bit restricting until they fully develop. Be great though for walks and intend to be the annoying idiot at Parkrun, with the dog attached to them, blocking all the other runners.

Got a mate who’s dog always needs a shit half way round.. no chance of a fast time anymore.
Love a good walk in the lakes at the weekend... great outdoors, fresh air, scenery and good company... only thing missing is a pub at the bottom for a pint and food.

That is usually me nowadays, the dog will be waiting for me.

Skiddaw is pretty straight forward with decent kit and fitness which I'm sure you have. I've done it a couple of times years ago. Went up sharp edge I think and down tother side and back round to start.

Think that’s what we’re planning on doing... as for kit.. she’s always moaning I take, and make her take, too much... rather have everything I may need that not enough!!

5 mile run today. Went for low intensity but ended up sprinting the last couple of miles. Pace of 7 mins 45 in total . Pleased with that after the first mile was 8 mins 30 . Managed 7 mins 11 and 12 respectively for the last 2 miles.

Just went out for a nice slow 5k also. Kept the heart rate below 130 and just enjoyed the drizzle, darkness and quiet streets.

Realised I was mixing up sharp edge, which is on blencathra with longside edge on skiddaw. They are quite different. Sharp edge is a much narrower scramble.
