All sounds great. This chat has really given me an appetite for taking part in some events. I've been out of it for a while; I think it's at least 2 years since I've taken part in any kind of event so would like to do something (in addition to the GNR) this year - perhaps in the autumn when I've had the summer to get fit.Yes ideally I need an extra 4 weeks of training. I did run 20 miles this weekend but it was on the flat trails which is obviously different to the Lakeland marathon.
Sadly I live in in the deepest south so won’t get many other opportunities this year to race a marathon in the Lakes, so I might have to swallow my ego and run/walk it and forget about times and position. If I don’t do the marathon I will book the half instead as me and the missus have booked accommodation for 7 nights just outside Keswick. Be great to see you there.
Only other challenge pencilled in is the ‘Fan Dance’ in September. It’s an SAS fitness test for recruits wanting to join.
They run with weighted packs but me and a mate are intending to do it without the weighted pack but just challenge ourselves to get a decent time.
I have watched a few videos on the Ultra which runs adjacent to Hadrians wall and finishes in Newcastle. Looks absolutely stunning but I think the first half is a really challenging.
So are you in Keswick next week when the Lakeland events are on?
