Russian invasion of Ukraine

Russia have captured ukrainian equipmet and fired it into Poland.
From what I've read, Ukraine doesn't have anything that russia could capture and fire to here.

It's either a long range russian missile, one fired from Belarus, or a misfired Ukraine missile.

They're not going to be able to identify it in a few hours of darkness, and there will be ways to find out where it came from, from surveillance methods.

Patience is required.

I think the most “extreme” response will be NATO saying it will be shooting down any missile that comes within X km of a nato border to protect the safety of its member nations.

I think The war is currently going very well for everyone not involved. Ukraine are steadily winning, pushing Russia out at a rate which isn’t so fast as to push the Kremlin into making quick (and bad for everyone) decisions. Winter should slow things up as well.

I suspect the US/NATO/EU/UK won’t do anything that disturbs the way things are going.

Another important factor - Russia are also down to their last 100 Iskander missiles (they were firing 25 a day in March) so realistically while Putin keeps responding to Ukrainian victories with massive missile barrages (bridge, now Kherson) the threat to Ukrainian and NATO civilians is rapidly decreasing. Soon they will literally run out of missiles.
Don’t Poland have the right to take unilateral action if they conclude they have been deliberately targeted or does this have to be driven through the vehicle of NATO?

Turkey acted unilaterally when they shot down a russian fighter jet for breaching it’s airspace for 15 seconds - No fucks were given by Turkey.

This is exactly why you’d never be in charge though. You’re describing events which are a direct war between NATO and Russia. This is World War 3.
Russia does not want NATO in its back yard. Zelensky is a prick by wanting to join NATO. Look at what America did to Vietnam for decades for wanting to become communist/follow Russia. Look at the sanctions still against Cuba for having non free market ideals. Look at what America does with countries in central and southern America when they don’t follow American values, for example Venezuela. Not a fan of Russia but if Canada invited Russian military and presence how would America have reacted. Probably 100 times worse than Russian reaction. In the long Russia will lose this war, particularly as it can’t compete with the backing Ukraine is getting. Zelensky aborts brown nosing America and this NATO wannabe pact the war is over.

Ok

Right but that’s no different to plenty of points since ww2 ended. This particular scenario though, we’re a way away from nato thinking of triggering article five or a world war though.
Don’t all 30 NATO countries have to unanimously agree to that anyway? Can’t see Hungary and Turkey doing that.

Zelensky knows Russia will never stick to any peace deal and the only effective way to enforce one is for Ukraine to be a NATO member.

Ukraine's sovereignty was agreed and guaranteed by Russia in exchange for them giving up Nukes - but they still invaded. Their word and agreements are worth nothing.

US officials have now noted that the missiles that hit Poland were indeed Russian and 2 people have been killed.
I can't confirm this,but from a very good source.

Slava Ukraini

It's what most suspected, but as noted earlier in the thread they've hit themselves again tonight, killing their own "innocents". The older the missiles they use, the more likely they are to have failures, the more they fire, the older the missiles will become.

These things take a fairly long time to assemble, and they're struggling to get components.
