Russian invasion of Ukraine

True for 1941 and most of 1942. Not 1943 onwards.
The Soviet General Staff Supreme Command (Stavka) met in April 1940 to review the lessons of the Finnish campaign and recommended reforms in terms of military command structures (reduced role for comisasars, promotion through military excellence etc), tactics (more artilary and much better combined arms deployment) and equipment (arms, clothing) and logistics.
The conclusion was that Russia MUST avoid war with Germany till mid to late 1942 - even though they knew war was inevitable.
The rapid defeat of France a month later came as a massive shock to the Russians and made them even keener to avoid war in the short to medium term.
The reforms were only partially complete when Nazi Germany attacked.
Nothing you wrote means plans of the cccr attacking the reich.

So how do you think they planed to resolve the "inevitable war" between Russia and the Nazi Reich? By magic?
They had both defensive and offensive plans in place. But Blitzkrieg blew the defensive plans away on the 22nd June 1941 when Operation Barbarossa began.

Exportable (w/o depleted uranium armour) Abrams version might need to come from US industry and not Army stock, so indeed may be end of 2023.

Interesting read on exportable Abrams:

True for M1A2 and Challenger 2/K1 (Doorchester armour - the latest edition of Chobham ) not for M1 and as the UK is sending Chalkenger 2 the M1A1 probably can be sent (very similar armour) jointly developed with UK.

But they also have significant military resources held back, if Putin really wanted to he could flood Ukraine with troops

I thought we'd settled this ages ago, they don't and no he can't.

Russia aren't drawing up plans to conscript another 500,000 men because they've got loads of troops sitting around waiting to be called upon.

They aren't holding anything back. This is the extent of Russia's military power.

The US estimated that the invasion force was 80% of Russia's ground force, and 100% of that had been deployed by late March. There's no one hiding in the wings, no secret supply of armor they were holding back for the first 350 days of the 3 day war.

It only ends when China tells Russia it’s ending. Another alternative would be China invades Russia to protect the oriental Russians and claims the east of Russia as Chinese. A third alternative is a Russian Revolution. That’s it as there’s not a cat in hell’s chance that Russia can win the war. Not now anyway.
