I’m surprised the Ukrainians aren’t pounding positions in Bakhmut to push them back. Have they tried this already ?

They are holding the Russian "Elite" and Wagner bastards.
The Russians are using a massive amount of ammo and resources at Bakhmut,whilst Ukrainian forces edge closer on the outskirts.
Look South of Bakhmut,Ukrainian forces are pushing East,right between Klishchiivka and Kurdyumivka.
Now look Northeast,Ukrainian forces are pushing South and are just North of Yakolivka,whilst further Northeast of there,Ukrainian forces are coming out of Spirne and also pushing South and East.

If not in Putin's head surely the wisdom gained from this ridiculous Russian attempt at warfare must create serious concerns about going toe to toe with NATO. One country backed with NATO equipment and not a single NATO brigade on the ground has thwarted every attempt to make progress for nearly a year.

And not even using NATO A grade equipment yet. getting closer with Tanks but imagine how this would look if NATO opened up its full offensive equipment set from full range missiles, drones and stealth planes etc.

Alone, If the US gave half its stock of cruise missiles that would be 12.5k strikes at 2500km range. the whole black sea navel base, probably a fair whack of the black sea fleet, the Crimea bridge. every supply line. all gone in very quick order.

In reality the stealth bombers would have wiped out most of the Russian anti air defences before a single missile was launched.
