Russian invasion of Ukraine

So many angles on this story ,
My thoughts are , why the hell didnt Gerasimov and Shoigu get together and oust Putin while they could ? Then concentrate on wiping out wagner
 
I’d forgotten about the Chechen fighters.

The Russian Army, Wagner and the Chechen’s.

Chechen forces are now leaving Russia's southern Rostov region and returning to the battlefield in eastern Ukraine, Russia's state-run Tass news agency reports.

The Chechen forces were urgently deployed to the Rostov region on Saturday, tasked with squashing a mutiny by Wagner mercenaries who had seized the local capital Rostov-on-Don.

But a deal was reportedly reached late that day to resolve the crisis, and Wagner fighters left the city shortly afterwards.

Tass quotes Apty Alaudinov, deputy commander of the Akhmat special unit, as saying his fighters are going back to the area around the Ukrainian city of Mariinka - the scene of fierce fighting in recent months.

They have nothing. Did you see the sandbags being set up in the road with the age of that machine gun? Their whole country is lies on lies and no one remembers the question. I personally believe they are 85% spent and don’t dare commit more to the Ukraine because there would be nothing left to defend their home.

Not that anyone should, but it would be a walk in the park to invade, remove Putin and all traces of him and pull out.

Nobody can afford to take that chance unfortunately. Although MAD ensured relative peace in Europe throughout the Cold War, it’s legacy means we cannot now end Putin’s ignorant dictatorship because he‘s crazy enough to use one if backed into a corner.

Conventionally NATO could destroy him and his regime in weeks, if not days, but for the hideous spectre of nuclear war, from which there can never be any winner.

Maybe because they are inept and that is now public knowledge.

My guess is that there is so much distrust in Russia that nobody knows whether they could fill the power vacuum should Putin be toppled.. Putin remains ‘in charge’, for now, but even he knows that his power is illusory.
