Salford City - moving to AJ Bell stadium (P9)

I despise Neville but reluctantly admire his ambition and drive. Moving stadia is a smart move given the way this opportunity has presented itself.
I have been to the AJ a few times to spectate and once organised a conference there. The facilities are first rate but everything about the immediate stadium surround and the journey to and from is truly shit. I found going there was like being dragged out by your partner to an out of town soulless concrete shopping centre experience as opposed to choosing to shop on a vibrant high street.
It will be interesting to see whether Salford can hang onto their core supporters.

Agree with what you say, but what core support did they have before the rag involvement?

Just read they had 35 season ticket holders before the takeover!

I liked the way he consulted with the fans, seeking their opinions first during a lengthy consultation period......

what's that you say?
Well the locals ie tea lady groundsman local committee at Moor Lane weren't consulted just moved on once the neville empire moved in ....and everyone knew salford fc.ground was too small for their ambitions it was just a matter of time .....no shock ....wouldnt be surprised if houses were built on the ground probably naming Peter lim drive or neville Row lol

This is the problem, the Rags have adopted Salford as their mini me......so ,i suspect many City fans, who would have previously or otherwise shown an enthusiasm for the club, will now distance themselves.

I only live 10 mins away, and would have enjoyed the opportunity of local lower league football,so it's a shame Salford, and their owners, have done nothing to discourage the restriction of their fan base.
Changing their kit to mirror united’s was a clanger dropped

Bristol City and Bristol Bears share common ownership and ground. I am delighted to report that the Bears play an outstanding brand of rugby and Bristol City play like a bunch of tossers which, of course, they are.

Changing the shirt colour from orange to red summed up their mini rag status.
Bought their way up the pyramid attracting gloryhunters and hangers on on the way. Many of those who now attach themselves to Salford come out with the usual shit about us having no history, oil money etc ,funnily enough when SCFC were getting home gates under 100 not so long back they werent interested in them.

It’s pointless they got a gate of over 2k on Saturday and 1k came from Hartlepool the only way they will thrive is down to the Rags struggling big time
