Samba

Chris Samba has revealed that he is looking to leave Blackburn during the winter transfer window, with the defender saying 'it is time for a change'.

The highly-rated centre-half has seen his future called into question on a regular basis over recent weeks, with Tottenham and Queens Park Rangers reported to have lodged sizeable bids.

It has also been suggested that ambitious Ligue 1 outfit Paris St Germain are keen, with their new manager Carlo Ancelotti having seen Samba up close during his time in charge of Chelsea.

The France-born Congo international has spent the last five years at Ewood Park, experiencing a rollercoaster of emotions during that time.

He was persuaded to pen a new deal with the club shortly after the arrival of Indian owners Venky's, but he has grown disillusioned with life at Rovers of late and is actively seeking a switch elsewhere.

"Lately, mentally, it has been difficult," Samba told L'Equipe.

"I tried to maintain my level of performance but I sense that it is time for a change. The club doesn't evolve at all. I'm resigned.

Ambitious

"I've always put the interests of the club before my own.

"I've invested a lot, always tried to lead by example, but things have not gone as I was told. I hope people will understand me."

PSG have already poached coach Paul Clement from Blackburn to become Ancelotti's assistant and are they now being heavily linked with Samba.

Insisting he was unaware of any offer from the capital club, Samba added: "In any case, it's flattering. The club has reached another level - it's not the PSG of a few years ago.

"There is Leonardo, Ancelotti. I'm sure they will bring in great players.

"We shall see if the interest is confirmed or not, but it would be good for me to return home.

"The most important thing is to find an ambitious club. I would love to experience something different."

Like say lescott who's considerably better than samba
Bollocks.

In my opinion, of course.

But this should be interesting, what makes Lescott "considerably better" than Samba?

He's just an all round better defender, better positioning, makes fewer mistakes and this season looks more comfortable on the ball.

As you say though, its all about opinions but I see no point in replacing lescott unless the replacements a big step up.

Are you being forced to write this nonsense under duration? That can be the only logical explanation for what you've said..............."He's just an all round better defender, better positioning, makes fewer mistakes and this season looks more comfortable on the ball." is frankly, utter rubbish.

He would absolutely walk into our team right now.

For all of 3 games.

Thats open to debate, besides it's not just about 3 games is it?

Outside of Komps and Lescott,we are struggling for quality,Samba would provide such. Also what happens when we get our next injury of ban??

This could make or break our season.

Its not about the main defenders but strength in depth as defenders.

Look at Utd: Ferdinand/Vidic/Jones/Smalling/Evens
Look at Spurs: King/Dawson/Bassong/Gallas/Kaboul and still made a 7.5 mill bid for Samba
us: Kompany/lescott/Toure/Savic/Onouha

Onouha is probably off to QPR, Savic is young and inexperienced and it leaves us 1 short on cover id say of an experienced CB

definately worth talking to ..if onuaha goes in opposite direction plus cash , might be better for everyone involved.

The African Nations Cup ends on the 12th February so what's the point? Kompany and Toure will be back by then

No I'm not 'writing under duration' I rate Lescott as a better centre-half than Samba, he's improved hugely since his shaky start with us. The only thing I've seen on this thread about Samba is he's a beast who's a whopping 2 inches taller and 'scores loads of goals' despite him scoring at a worse ratio at Blackburn than Lescott did at Everton.

I'd be happy to have him even as adequate short term cover cover in the EPL, what if Lescott, Toure or Vinnie (again) pick up a red ! ... plus when Beko (fridge/freezer) is misfiring upfront, Samba can get up and cause mayhem ! ... let's just do it, cos we can ! :-D
