If someone has read the four pages of this thread and barely understood one single post, is it worth them exploring the option of whatever the hell you're all talking about in an attempt to save some money or should they just get a regular, more expensive, Sky package?

Have a peep at these vids on YouTube concerning XBMC. This is how I installed it.

I have that on my phone with an mhl to hdmi adaptor for the tv,it's better than lovefilm/Netflix and Sky on demand put together.

Does this work well using a phone or tablet (nexus7) ?
I was gonna buy a xbmc android box to plug into the back of the tv, but will just buy the adapter if it works just as good.
Spent £5 on an adapter and it works perfectly (galaxy note 2).

Cheers. An adapter it is then.

XBMC..

Anyone use it on any sort of device? Any add ons that you can recommend? I seem to find good links but then next time they don't work, is this normal? Last chance saloon before I sign up for Aljazeera for the year as i've moved in with the in-laws and can't put my dish up, hate being stuck on 28.2!
I've installed it on my laptop. I'm only using 2 addons at the moment (Navi-x and Mashup). The amount of channels and links is staggering. I went to look at a movie last night and although the quality was good, the movie had chinese subtitles, but there are other links to the same movie so I'm sure its just a case of having a look at others and finding what you want. A HDMI cable does the job for putting it on your telly. I've not tried BT Sport or SkySports yet.

i have the XBMC installed on my comp, i have like 1 channel etc on it on the wizard BETA but how do i get like skysports etc on it?

Install navi-x. Then use search option.

Thanks, have no sound at work but I'll have a look at home later.

Is this just for watching on a PC/laptop? What about tv packages?

If you are using an Enigma2 box (vu+,dreambox etc)the new update Tsmedia plugin has a beta version of naviX built in.

I have a system all set up and I pay a subscription of 12 euros a month about £10 I can get the whole deal loads of football sometimes not an English commentary but most times it is plus you can get everything that's on sly tv. Never miss a game its well worth the money.

is it a satellite system you've got? if so would you care to elaborate?

-- Thu Aug 08, 2013 4:44 pm --

Living in Germany I'm looking at trying to get Al Jazeera Sports or if someone knows where I can get most premier league games and a good movie channel without having to go the sky route that would be great.

Does anyone know if I can get the Nilesat 7 degrees east here in North Germany?

Yes I have hade the system about 2 years now 1 meter motorised dish connected to my broadband I pay a subscription to a supplier he sends me the code at present my system is saying it has 128 cards installed all for 12 Euros

Got it sorted last month.

A 1.1m motorised dish and a receiver which allows me to get all the Sky channels and loads of European channels too.

Some of the films are English with subtitles but there's plenty that are just as you'd see them over here - and bang up to date. Watched Ironman 3 last week in HD and with English soundtrack. There's the 3D stuff too if you have the right TV to watch it on.

There's loads of sport and, of course, XXX stuff - some of which is transmitted 24/7! I can get the Al Jazeera channels, Italian Sky Sports and plenty of others which have the 3pm and non SKY/BT matches.

I paid 30 Euros for 3 months subscription which allows me access to all the decent sports and films channels. There are cheaper ones about = as low as £15 for 3 months or £50 a year but I was in a rush and the one I got was recommended by a few people. Generally it's glitch free but, as you may have noticed in the pub, there'll be an occasional flicker or two second freeze - when you consider what you're getting and for how much it really is a small price to pay.

The set up cost me £425 fitted - you can buy the gear and fit it yourself for less than £300 but after seeing how much fiddling about and fine tuning there is I feel it was £125 well spent! If you're thinking of doing it yourself have a look on some of the satellite forums and see the problems that people have doing it themselves and how technical it can get - pretty scary stuff if you're not into all that technical nonsense!
I've saved almost £70 a month ditching Sky so if it blows up in twelve months I'll still be in pocket and have had loads more choice in the mean time.

Where did you get it from and who installed it?
