LFC's statement is so confused and ill advised that it could've been penned by someone on RAWK.

Wouldn't surprise me if they removed the statement and claimed they've been hacked....

Really?... I'm not exactly Alf Garnet; but verbal assualt > physical assault... ???

You can call someone a "****" or a "twat" quite freely on this forum (misogyny, BTW, I hate more than racialism...but hey-ho).

It is not just about the words said in the present. If you think that verbal racial abuse is not linked to violence against racial minorities in the present and the past then you are wholly mistaken.

Apologies for joining the debate late but I've only just got in and have read the last few pages.

What I don't get is that it appears Suarez has admitted the abuse but claims he didn't mean it racially as it is a term used differently in Uruguay.

Liverpool's statement makes out they don't believe he was guilty of anything whatsoever as they claim no-one heard what was said - why does that matter if Suarez has already admitted what he said but just says it was out of context??????

The problem is, in Suarez's own country the term is used 'fondly' and negatively. By Suarez admitting to the frequent over use of the phrase to a player he has no cause to view 'fondly' then the negative connotation of the word must be true.

Basically, he hung himself.

I agree completely mate, maybe you misunderstood my post - what I don't get is Liverpool FC's statement backing up their player when he has admitted what he said, if you read LFC's statement again they seem to make out he had no charge to answer.

The answer is simple; they're stupid.

Re: Suarez (merged)

will liverpool want to appeal, and stand bye someone thats been found "guilty" of racism? its a difficult one for their club and how to play it from here. i for one will sit back and enjoy this blowing up and ruining their season. another year with no european football....happy days

Apologies for being a latecomer to the thread but has there been any word on what Suarez actually said? Either in English or in Spanish...

i think.... it was something that meant little black man but can be taken both ways in Uruguay, i could be wrong, but bigga has summed it all up in a few lines!

Its not diffucult one at all. What they need to do is accept the ban, apologies to the player, and make suarez apology. Say they will help the player not to make similar mistakes in the future and just move on. Everyone would accept that. He used a racist word, sh!t happens. Just be man enough to apologies and learn from it.

Instead they are writing a statement where they want Evra to be charged as well. Talk about bad pr
