The handball is clear for me. The shots going in and Otamendi diverts the ball. The second penalty is a needless pull by Fernandinho.

We're fortunate that Schalke aren't very good.

Of course it's a great result, but it wasn't a great performance.

So.that is how handball will now be judged then, starting today ?

He was trying to get his arm out of the way of the ball so it simply CANNOT be deliberate. I see needless pulls by players in every match I watch and probably 1 out of 20 are awarded penalties. Even the commentators said, before those decisions were awarded we were giving them a footballing lesson. To win that game with 10 men, is bloody good. Get behind them.
There's no point getting wound up on here lad, Some people just love something to give out about (even when we overcome officials and being 2-1 down with 10 men).

How on earth people can't defend the officials on here tonight is baffling me.

So we’re lucky that we’re better than them? Not sure what luck had to do with us winning tonight.

First of all that was a performance with real guts and determination against all the odds , no matter how much UEFA do not want us to win their cup , we are pissing them off by winning games when they are clearly dictating to officials to give us absolutely nothing.
The 1st penalty was deemed deliberate handball , Otto was retracting his hand away from the ball not moving his arm towards the ball , how is that in any form deliberate handball ?
As a result of otto's incorrect penalty decision , he gets sent off for a 2nd yellow card , this doesnt happen if the referee ,makes the correct penalty decision
The 2nd penalty their defender is in an offside posittion , he is not deemed offside if he is not gaining an advantage or interfering in play , how is winning a penalty from an offside position , not interfering in play ?
It is also a bookable offence for players and managers to ask for VAR by making a square TV gesture , Schalke manager and players did this continually throughout the game, but no action from the twat of a referee.
Despite all the above , we played superb and our players kept their calm , played our game and got the deserved win , for the return game i will boo wholeheartedly UEFA's little tune , makne no doubt about it UEFA's agenda couldnt have been any clearer than tonight , who's TV monitor at the side of the pitch was conveniently not working , fucking crooks.
Peter Walton on BT (who's family are all Dippers and has produced articles regarding Liverpool being the most unlucky team in 2017 regarding refereeing decisions)
not forgetting the ridiculous sending off of Zabba in 2008 playing against , guess who................Liverpool
Lets not forget Schalke's gamesmanship , diving at every contact , asking for VAR , keeper taking 2 minutes on every goal kick and no action taken
Finally on my little rant BT pundits commentators , Liverpool draw at home and its a "good result" , we win in Germany and "we still have work to do" , you really couldnt make it up , every time we win a game our detractors are hurting , long may it continue , in fact lets twist the knife , win the quadruple , the haters will be crying themselves to sleep.

Handball has to be deliberate, I dont see how moving an arm out of the way is in any way deliberate, and this bollocks about a clenched fist is the proof of just how confused referees are about handball.

Ferny knew he'd fucked up, bad mistake

I think Otamendi has enough time to react and the ball is heading into the corner. He makes a fist and diverts the ball. If that was reversed I'd absolutely want a penalty.

My issue is how VAR was used tonight. How can the ref not have a monitor but the Schalke bench have?
