Had the pleasure (sic) of refereeing him a lot as he came through the rags A team. No sign of the poor tackling then just a genuinely nice lad who you could actually talk and have a laugh with. Few manchester lads who ran the line for me knew him and all said good things about him.
Turned into a cracking player who never let anybody down (apart from the tackling) and should have been talked into staying with England longer.
Thanks for the memories Paul, enjoy your retirement.
Incidentally, before someone accuses me of being a rag, also had the pleasure of one Darren Ferguson, whose obituary I would gladly write.
