Scholes hangs up his boots.

They all seem to think he was alright. Still a **** though!

Good fucking riddance.

I for one am personally sick of hearing pundits and commentators drooling over his passing and having a laugh at his shocking tackles. The age old excuse that somehow a 36 year old who's been playing professional football for the best part of 20 years doesn't know how to tackle is absolute nonsense.

"Scholesy" is a dirty bastard who I will not miss.

Well said.

A no nonsense quality footballer who quietly got on with it without a song and dance, never caused any shit off the field but couldn't tackle to save his life.
Probably the best English midfielder of his generation in my view, shame he played for the Rags..............

-- Tue May 31, 2011 6:25 pm --

Might have been a great footballer but his slow brain was his downfall, couldn't get the must tackle now vibe to his legs and feet quick enough to prevent the foul........

The way the papers and news are going on he was the greatest
player since Pele....sickening
If he had played for Bolton no one would give a shit

Wheres the logic in that? He wouldn't play for Bolton if he was that good would he? That's like saying if Zidane played for the dog and duck he would be a shit player. Lulz

Don't give a fuck how much abuse anyone on here gives me; he was one of the best players I've ever seen in the flesh. Got to respect both the talent and the attitude, just got his head down and cracked on with it.

Delighted to see the back of him, but how I'd love us to have a local lad come so good.

another glory hunter. brought up in salford during oldham's best ever period when they were beating everton, arsenal, west ham and the rest. if he was brought up now while they are in deep shit, he wouldn't support them.

Don't think that is true. He might have lived in Salford for a while as a kid he was mostly brought up in Langley. I imagine, certainly before City moved, and probably still now, Boundary Park is probably the nearest ground to there. Think his Dad was an Oldham fan too.

Anyway, great player, outstanding, and seems like a decent bloke. Allowed to get away with murder by shit scared refs though.
