I dream about touring Scotland on a bike, sadly I fear I may have left it a bit late, what bike have you got?

My eldest daughter won an "Employee of the month" award when she worked for Shell, and gave it to me and my wife as a present. It was a 3 night stay for 2 at the 5 star Sheraton Grand in Edinburgh!
We set off on the Monday morning, and it started raining by the time we got to Preston. It was still raining when we got home on the Thursday. It was also windy - went through 2 umbrellas blowing themselves inside out.
Nevertheless, had a great time, mostly spent driving around the countryside as far as the Trossachs and Stirling, as my wife had never been to Scotland before.
The only downside was that the 5 star hotel didn't serve beans with the breakfast! The hotel staff were mainly Aussies in kilts, and didn't know the faculty rules - neither were they called Bruce (or Jimmy).
