Not sure why we allowed AJ to leave before we had this deal sorted. We are now desperate for an impact sub winger and presumably Swansea realise that. Should have put Sunderland off until this was in the bag imo.

I'd say this was correct. Shouldn't have let him leave until we had a replacement.

Are we desperate for him? I wouldn't have thought so, hopefully we'll leave it to the last day and see who blinks first.

again,it can only be down to the"city price".....if it was southampton/or someone similar, in for him..it would be done and dusted for 5-6 million...IMO.
Thats right and thats why we need to stand fucking firm this time.I'd rather we make do than get shafted again.

Swansea playing it very well.

Their chairman, their managers plays this together with comments on the subject.

"If City wants him why they dont act?"
"If Sinclair wont move this window I will have him back in the team."

They want 1-2m more of course and they feel they can get it easily.

They bought Michu for 2m and he scored them already 3 goals in the league.
If they get 7.5-8m instead of 5m for Sinclair they have this Michu guy simply free...

You could argue conversely that City are playing it well.

Swansea demand £8m, City refuse to pay it and walk away. It'd leave Swansea with the choice of either accepting a lower fee, or keeping an unhappy player in the last year of his contract who can talk to whoever he likes in January.

Until Friday passes it's hard to say who's negotiating better.

Thats so right, seems like Swansea's saying cough up more money or you wont get our player.....................

We must be the only club in the world without a proper winger now, unbelievable really. We can get a good winger in three days but it's requires confidence in our negotiating team who haven't done much to instill faith this summer.

Hate to say it but, as we don't really play with wingers.....

We can turn this to our advantage.

Scout out a young fast impact winger from one of the other major leagues. doesn't have to be Ronaldo. Get it done and dusted for £7m. Then make it obvious that this was a direct consequence of Swansea being greedy over SS.

Send a message that we won't be held to ransom, we aren't soft touches and we won't let people take the piss.

So if we walk away from the Sinclair deal we're really weak and without a wide player? Stop panicking and just accept that in the brave new world we're not going to let clubs charge what they want. If he doesn't move to City he'll move in January for a fraction of the price. I for one can wait. Ain't pinning my hopes on this one signing anyway so relax......

Nor do Barca.

So what's to say another team won't play hardball over the price (if that's what Swansea are doing)?

They have pace in the front 3. That's what Sinclair would be for.

That's fair enough and probably why we haven't bothered ever spending fortunes on a top class winger but to not have any at the club even to offer as an alternative off the bench is fucking nuts imo.

I'd wait till Friday then make a lower offer.

I'd agree with this but we are already a laughing stock and whether the press have it bang on or they are a million miles away, we still look like goomers in this transfer window. The situation actually looks worse because after a summer of leisure, Hazzard in particular looks like the "one that got away"

Very frustrating if you ask me

But Barca have wide options - Pedro, Afellay, Tello, Cuenca, Sanchez.

Even if a club doesn't utilise natural wingers a lot, the option needs to be there and City obviously think so too or they wouldn't bother replacing Johnson.

If we're sticking with cheap homegrown, could see Nathan Redmond being next on the list. Walcott and Sturridge probably too expensive/wages/playing demands.

That's true of course. Our reputation preceeds us wherever we go, but I'd be hopeful we could sign someone.

I have given my head a wobble and stopped flapping. A couple of posters on here are talking sense. It is the case of who blinks first and we should wait until Friday to see on how it pans out.
