Celtic are on the beach
Yep. I'm sure they still wouldn't want to lose to Rangers, mind.Celtic are on the beach
On our arse.Celtic are on the beach
When I saw the team sheet I knew we were fucked. My brother called the score.Save for the first two seasons when Rangers were reincarnated and returned to the top flight, Celtic have been unable to go unbeaten against their nemesis. Meaningless when the Brasso is only needed in one trophy room, of course, but based on recent seasons the loss today is hardly unexpected.
The destination of the Cups would appear to have been dictated by the Old Firm meetings, but the League (Celtic 7 points Rangers 4) has been determined by performances against the remaining teams. Celtic only dropped 4 points while Rangers dropped 12, I think. Rangers’ form improved considerably after the break but the damage was already done. When I saw the team sheet I knew we were fucked. Van Bronkhorst (sp?) was disastrous for them. Beale seems to have done a good job steadying the ship. Next season could be more of a contest. The destination of the Cups would appear to have been dictated by the Old Firm meetings, but the League (Celtic 7 points Rangers 4) has been determined by performances against the remaining teams. Should both teams remain stable in terms of their managements, then the League might be a little closer next season.

Disastrous might be a little strong, no? He took them to a European final, no mean feat from a peripheral league, won them the Scottish Cup, and qualified for the CL group stages, though I do acknowledge that his pragmatic style of play was always going to be better suited to cup competitions and less likely to pressure Celtic in the League.Van Bronkhorst (sp?) was disastrous for them. Looking at Rangers forums last autumn, most of their fans wanted him out. And they'd be more clued up about how their side was performing than I would. His solid start had petered out badly by that time.Disastrous might be a little strong, no? He also lost key players whose replacements have not matched what was expected of them, so I’ll hold off judging van Bronckhorst’s tenure until I see the quality of signings Rangers make this summer and how well Beale then does. It could be that the coach is only part of the problem at Ibrox and that they need to do significantly better in terms of player recruitment.
