100%. It's 40 years since a non old firm side won the title up there (funnily enough, Aberdeen).Even better for the league would be the Dons winning the league and breaking the monopoly

Of course it was better back then. It's pretty much a closed shop now. Celtic (15) and Rangers (5) of the last 20. Great for Celtic fans, obviously. And, to a lesser degree, Rangers fans. But for everyone else? Hmm.
Doesn’t tell the full story
You've referenced a bunch of knockout games there. If you check back, we were talking about the league. Anyone can get lucky in a cup competition (we know that from 2013). The league is the true indicator of a team's quality.Doesn’t tell the full story
Aberdeen 1983 ECWC winners
Aberdeen European Super Cup winners ( glorified friendly) ; )
1984 Dundee United robbed in European Cup Semi when Roma bribed Referee!!
1987 Dundee United UEFA cup finalists
Celtic also early 80s knocked out European Cup Latter stages by Real Madrid
Also add in a very strong Hearts team mid to late 80s where they were very unfortunate not to win league in 1986.
Was great to see Pittodrie full for United game and a reminder that a successful Aberdeen will be supported and they’ve always had a great travelling support

League of shame: Scotland's smelliest top-flight football stadiums revealed
Ibrox Stadium, the storied home of Rangers FC, has gained an unwanted title and rather unflattering reputation: the worst-smelling stadium in the Scottish Premiership.www.edinburghnews.scotsman.com
Lol.
We weren't. We were talking about the league title. Go back and check, if you don't believe me.I was referencing Scottish clubs relative success in European football.
I was actually replying to Madchesters post about Scottish football being better in the 1980s.We weren't. We were talking about the league title. Go back and check, if you don't believe me.
Which I pretty much agree with. Whatever about better, it was certainly more competitive. But the conversation was triggered by my comment about it being as well to give the trophy to Celtic now. You're unlikely to reel them back in (too inconsistent). I'd love to see Aberdeen pull it off; it's tedious watching one of the old firm winning it for decades now. I just don't think they'll last the pace. And say they happen to be top in March; will they be mentally able to handle that? I'm not sure they could, not having been in such a position since I had teeth and hair.I was actually replying to Madchesters post about Scottish football being better in the 1980s.

The spread of title winners was down to strength in depth in the league over a period of time.
Aberdeen fans will be loving life right now but I’m afraid we’ve seen this before. Hearts , under George Burley I think, were flying a few years back but once the injuries / suspensions kick in their lack of strength in depth is exposed.Which I pretty much agree with. I’d say the league has been ruined as a spectacle by the domestic success of two teams personally, that’s been over 30 yearsI was actually replying to Madchesters post about Scottish football being better in the 1980s.

There is zero (ZERO) chance Aberdeen win the league, suspect we’ll get beat tomorrow night as you say. I’ll be going tomorrow and i’m sure the players will give their all, as will our fans, but I’ll repeat again Zero chance Aberdeen win the league.Aberdeen fans will be loving life right now but I’m afraid we’ve seen this before. We need more money into our game and at the moment the best bet is through European success. Hopefully Hearts will benefit through this seasons run.
Aberdeens run comes to an abrupt halt tomorrow!! : )))))))))
Nearer to 40 than 30.I’d say the league has been ruined as a spectacle by the domestic success of two teams personally, that’s been over 30 years
That’s only a narrative in England. Scotland seems to be OK with a one club league where the top team outspends everyone elseEven better for the league would be the Dons winning the league and breaking the monopoly
