Scottish independence

All this talk of a socialist utopia where there is perfectly even wealth distribution is as entertaining as it is naive.

Good luck to them if they do.

Nothing naive about it either.
It's not working too well En France. Anyone who doesn't fancy handing over threequarters of their income has decamped to London, and the government gets sacked every 10 minutes. The Scots have traditionally been allies of the French, it appears they are going to follow a similar path.

Of course it's naive. I'm all for self determination and would support whatever decision they chose but at present there is no actual plan of action for how an independent Scotland could and would function.

To assume it will be a fair and equitable nirvana is naive in the extreme. As someone had already said, Scotland deserves better than a wing and a prayer.

I think they deserve the chance.
They're certainly feeling unrepresented In Westminster at the moment, as are most northern towns/cities.

If they do vote yes it will certainly be interesting.

I think the risks are known but the yes voters think they're worth taking. All this patronising from England doesn't sit right with me.

I'd rather they were less selfish and campaigned for British regionalisation rather than Scottish Independence, but that's just because the idea has been floating in my head for a while.

Me and you both.

It's getting interesting now. If they vote yes, fine, fuck off and don't complain if it goes wrong because you're not getting back in.

Secondly, if that happens, sterling short term will bomb - that suits my company because we have forward bought USD for our purchases but our sales will generate more sterling when converted back.

Thirdly, unless libdems and labour join forces, there will only be a conservative government from now on.

Fourthly, if they vote no, there will be pressure brought on to exclude Scottish MP's from voting in English issues

Fifthly, it raises the valid issue that the regions such as the North deserve some form of political self- determination

I could go on. Interesting anyway

Talking if Yes, general election to be postponed next May :-(
Could be a blessing in disguise. You think Cameron is bad? Do you honestly think Milli-bland would be any better (and ''he can't be any worse'' is hardly a valid argument for voting him in)?

"there will only be a conservative government from now on", that's a long time Ronnie, must be one hell of a crystal ball you've got there!
