Scotland= free medicine for all, free car parking At hospitals, no uni fees, great sounding places to live like ecelfechan and as much battered black pudding as you can eat!!!!!

Oa a wood wok five hundrad mials an a wood wok five hundrad moar.....

may change once the Subsides from Westminster stop

One of the Scottish guys I had a really good discussion with about this told me the following (I don't know how true it is by the way):

The population of Scotland is circa 5m people.
Of that 5m people only around 300,000 of them pay more tax then they take out (the rest obviously take out more than they pay in)
Hence if independence does come then regardless of the oil money services will have to be cut and taxes will have to be increased.
The first people they will take more tax off is the 300,000 people and it will trickle down from there as services and 'free everythings's are cut.
Hence the reason he has restructured all of his business interests (which are significant) and he and they will be out of Scotland within 24 hours
of a 'Yes' vote being declared.

On English independence?

I would like a vote on Lancastrian independence from Westminster.
On Scottish Independance, English Independance & a referendum on leaving the EU.

Ah. One of those Daily Mail EU obsessives then. Its all they go on about.

Lancastrian/ Cestrian independence would be worth fighting for. A chance at last to build a socialist utopia ;)

I am suprised that the tories are against Scottish independence. If Scotland left the UK they would be in power for ever. I would have to find some link in family to jockness and move to Moffat as that sounds a cool place to live

An oxymoron if ever there was one. Those who have established socialism and maintained it for some decades - USSR, China, Albania, Eastern Europe turned disparate and autrocratic countries into a utopia for themselves. They're little different, apart from the rhetoric, from the 'democratic' shysters we have in Westminster currently! I despair that we will never see anywhere on the planet a country governed for the benefit of the people who live there.

Maybe someone could tell me but Catalonia, if they get independence would have to apply to the EU to be elected as a member state, surely then the same would apply to Scotland, not guaranteed and what currency would they use if so.

Correct which is why Spain would vote against Scotland joining - or at least make it difficult so it didn't encourage the Catalans

not a chance of it being a yes vote but if it turned out it was then good luck to them at least they would have broke away from the clowns down at westminster and unfortunately they would have self inflicted financial suicide in the process

If the Scottish people want it then let them have it. Wales will be next to claim independence and after that I suspect Ireland will be unified.

how can Ireland ever be unified when more than half the people dont want to be part of the republic ?
