Scottish Independence

N.Ireland a part of the UK shares a land border with the Eu country of Ireland, why can’t they have a copy and pasted arrangement. I’ll be honest with you I do know the answer.
No, because it's not the same agreement.
Northern Ireland has a unique relationship with the rest of the UK. Scotland is a part of Great Britain.

Who says England would want it?
OK . I’ll tell you why it can’t happen the same free open border as in Ireland. England and the EU wouldn’t want allow it. For the simple reason there is no country in between to use as a buffer. The only reason it works in Ireland is because Johnson accepted what apparently no UK prime minister could ever accept, a different settlement for a part of the UK , whether that part wants it or not, and a border within the UK a handy buffer.
An arrangement Scotland and maybe Wales would also probably quite like. It would probably see off independence support except Boris has decided different rules for different parts of the union then wonders why support for independence is stronger.

Then why are you arguing about it?

I really don't care if Scotland is independent or not, but if Sturgeon and her cronies thinks things will continue like normal she's sadly mistaken.

Because it’s this intransigence and from Johnson, and the England says stance, that will lead to a break up of the UK. When a little flexibility and co- operation could strengthen the union not weaken it.
Because any deals that the UK makes now with whoever would more than likely need to be ripped up if Scotland or N.Ireland leave the UK.

It's actually not the "England says" stance, it's more the "Scotland thinks it's entitled to..."

Any deal made between the UK and other nations from this point on will still be valid, because Scotland is a part of the UK. Once it leaves the UK, the UK doesn't cease to exist, Scotland ceases to be part of it, and any trade negotiations. It's Scotland who would be selectively ripping up deals on it's own behalf, not the UK. The UK would still be England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

For the record, it would be the exact same scenario if England wanted independence from the rest of the UK.

Assuming N. Ireland and maybe Wales, not sure how popular independence feeling is there, don’t follow suit.
Funnily enough didn’t you use the argument that if the EU had been more flexible when Cameron went to them we probably wouldn’t have left the EU. I guess what I’m really suggesting is Westminster learns from that.
