Season Tickets - 2023/24

Strong sense of battered wife syndrome from people arguing that £40 per game is good value and it’s only a pound a week.

The biggest load of bollocks is that City are a business not a charity so what should we expect? It may be a business, but a business entirely reliant on the dedication and devotion of a core supporter base that doesn’t fuck off at the first sign of trouble. In any normal commercial activity customers pick and choose dependent on quality but football doesn’t work like that which gives the businesses something of advantage. One City are exploiting rather than nurturing.

There’s much to love about City at the moment but SorIano is fucking **** who is actively trying to disenfranchise our working class Mancunian supporter base. It’s not that he doesn’t seem to care it‘s that he appears to be actively hostile. The problem he’s got is that however much he may want to he’s never going to build a the sort of UK, Ireland and Scandinavian supporter base that fills out the Swamp and Anfield every fortnight because we were 40 years late to that particular party.

Once Pep leaves Soriano will follow him out quickly because he won’t want to be working out how to fill our expanded stadium when things don’t look quite as rosy on the pitch And ludicrous ticket prices won’t wash.

We are watching THE best football team on the planet right now but nothing lasts forever.

Then what? If we slip back to mediocrity,(it can happen) where will we be then?

The bandwagon jumpers who are currently occupying our empty seats, were will they be if(or when) our shit hits the fan?

They'll be nowhere to be seen because they only show when things are going good, fact!

If that was to happen then it won't be the end of the(our) world because we've been there before and we'll be there again with another 35k+ loyal fans turning up because they love City.

But one thing is for sure, and that is our owners will not be able to take the piss and charge us what they think we'll pay. No, it will have to be priced accordingly because without City's hardcore fan base the club is nothing!
I like everything about your post but I honestly don't think our owners are taking the piss. Lots of ordinary working people were priced out of football ages ago and nobody raised an eyebrow.

Good grief, time for bed for me. Night all.

Just say City averaged ecery ticket at 20 quid next season... could they

53000 x £20 is £1,060,000
X19 games = £20,140,000

+sponsorship
+Advertising
+TV money
+Game by game hospitality
+everything else that comes in

Less overheads
And laser shows
And FFP...

Could we survive and compete?
How many Ed Sheran gigs would we need to hold?

Joking aside. The club should be doing everything possible to avoid costs being loaded onto fans. Everything. If the club are or are not in breach of FFP and other Premier League rules, then a lot of annoyed fans (not customers) should claim refunds for fan reputation being dragged through mud by Dominies Pizza, PaddyPower, the media etc. City Matters, my arsenal!
Just to add a little extra context for this season, if we win the treble we will earn somewhere around £280 million from the 3 competitions on top of the £4.5 mill we got paid of fifa for our players contribution at the World Cup.

If all that happens we’d also possibly earn up to £9mill for the super cup and club World Cup if we won them, the increase in season tickets prices seems so insignificant to the club but is important to a lot of regular fans.

Mate, our owners are taking the piss because they are taking us for granted. Supporters are at a stage of whether they can afford the price increases, or not.

It's not just about SC and match tickets, and it's not just about the cost of the price of attending games, even though fuel food and drink prices have increased.

It will pain many a blue to have to stop attending games because our price increases have tipped them over the edge of affordability given the cost of living increases.

And it's not just about City. Every working class fan will be impacted on the cost of attending games and it's about time clubs realise this and act accordingly before it's too late.

You can't be this tone deaf?

It's not a pound a week when everything else is also going up.

Is it a pound a week if I also attend with my son?

Let's call it £2 a week shall we?

So that's an extra £96 a year on top of what people already stretch to with City, and before the council tax, mortgages, gas, electricity, food and phone increases.

The average UK household has experienced a jump of an extra £500 a month in outgoings since last August.
I agree Tolm, it’s more about people reaching a threshold/tipping point, one where you say “do you know what you’re taking the piss” when you have kids you see it as money being taken away from them. I recently told O2 to take a running jump after they raised prices 17%! They’ve timed this really badly from their own perspective as it’s come on the back of all the other rises at the start of April, I can see them getting it in earlier next season after the backlash they’re gonna get

Look at our facilities compared to the state of old Trafford?? The upkeep of our stadium has been immense Ric and it all costs. The club are about to invest £300 million in a new stand. Wages of match day staff will be up, police costs etc. inflation this year is circa 9 percent, the rises are lower than the cost of inflation. I maintain the reaction is over the top and not balanced. I feel for anyone struggling but I don’t feel we are being ripped off at all.
They are also adding in the hotel and arena to add to the revenue streams meaning it will more than pay for itself.

Still not getting it?

How can you know other people's circumstances, what any type of rise right now has on their impact to afford something which, while you quite rightly state is not compulsory, we know damn fine well has us by the bollocks.

You can be flippant about it being a pound a week, but in real household terms, it becomes a another huge consideration in terms of affordability and those who pay for others.

I go to the match with my son, it's one of my biggest pleasures in life. We've not had a proper holiday in four years, my wife is a teacher, I'm self employed, it came across as condescending to read you telling others to work extra hours when they may have no opportunity to earn extra.

You further posted that you see hotels all booked, people away on holidays, using £1500 iPhones, that's not a true representation of society right now. I'm sure you see it, but I also live in a middle class area where people are actually going to food banks, which is heartbreaking to see.

One of the biggest Blues I know has been forced to move fifty miles away from Manchester, simply because he can't afford to live here.

As for my excitement posting transfer news, that's the nub. I can separate the two quite easily.

The extra income this raises is negligible in comparison to what Bellingham would earn in three months.

Others will say we can't have it both ways, but my argument is we take less through the gate than all our main rivals yet we continue to scoop up the trophies.

Our owner will earn more in an hour than what this hike achieves and is a tone deaf implementation.

My dad is 71 and retired now, he survives on a state pension, his OAP ticket has gone up £40.

City is the only thing that gets him out the house, he's not finding much left each week as it is.

I commend you sorting people out with tickets and being in a position to do so, but I don't feel the Club should be getting a free pass for the countless others who will be impacted by these rises.

I think you have a broad brush stroke perception on this one. Always happy to debate but I respectfully can't align with your optics on this one.
You're speaking to a complete arse hole mate. No point in wasting anymore of your valuable time on it

I mentioned this in another thread, I call it the Wigan effect, they had low ST ticket prices in the Prem to attract people over to watch PL football, they got relegated and put the prices up, result, they lost two thirds of their crowds with the combination of championship football and higher prices
