Season Tickets - 2025/26 | Changes to ticket transfer this season (p101)

Very fair points you’ve made but my issue is City aren’t exactly making those tickets affordable for the rest. The single match day prices now are just a joke. They don’t care who sits in the seat as long as it’s sold. The club need to be very careful with how they treat us. Nothing lasts forever they are cashing in on the unbelievable success. I think they’re in for a shock when Pep goes.
Is this 10 game attendance requirement a City only idea? do any other EPL clubs have attendance requirements like this for season card holders.

I think others, United sticks out, are far more draconian. But they have double the match day revenue so our bean counters are just catching us up. Someone linked a report that Arsenal too are clamping down

I imagine clubs are aligned on it. Mobile tickets part of the same thing I bet

It’s strange that some fans agree with the mandatory 10 game attendance. I thought we all agreed that City need to make more season tickets available, not less. This 10 game rule will force some long standing and loyal fans out whether that is because of illness, study at Uni, distance from Manchester or whatever. This against a background where The Etihad will be large enough soon to accommodate many thousands of brand new season tickets and yet the club are squeezing existing holders out. It’s not logical unless the real reason is to further reduce season tickets and every fan should be against that.

Even united count the ticket being transferred to another member as it being used. No min 10 personal uses.

Some have obsessions with touts, points whores, hoarders (a new one for 2025) being a large part of the SC population

Some are just thick so believe what they're told (10 game helps no shows as an example)

Some are even thicker and try to justify their point by claiming it's stopping real fans getting tickets

Some can't understand scenarios that haven't happened to them so dismiss it

Some are just nasty and like to punch down like the "£71 is good value" cunts who think people should cut their cloth accordingly and get on with life

Some are bored and like an argument on the Internet

Some are all the above

I thought so, others clubs the same from what I can see. Ticket transfers or using club ticket exchange count as “attendance” for most clubs.
Mandatory personal attendance seems unique to us.

I went on a run up to Covid of something like missing 2 home games in 17 years (1 I was in hospital, 1 I was still passed out from an all nighter drinking only woke up during the second half).

Yet a couple of years ago I was very poorly in hospital for a while and missed six home games and my Father attended all six while I wasn’t there. Anything can happen to anyone. It could easily have been 10 games if I’d been any more ill. I think as long as your ticket is used by a F&F then it should count.

Genuinely, what posts on here have been made by people who "happily admit that they've no intention of attending half the games"?

These people are in yours and a few other's imaginations.

I've not read anyone say that and anyone saying how it will affect them can certainly not be labelled as "happily" sharing their thoughts

Lots have explained how they share a SC, some have mentioned how they live far away, others call out kick off times changing.

This bogeyman evil tout running 10 SCs or rich **** only going to United and Liverpool games whilst writing off the £900 just don't exist at any scale yet seem to be the reason people support this and make comments like yours

I’m not going back through the whole thread, making notes on who has said what. I’m quite happy for you to think I’m chatting shit.

But from memory. There’s one guy who said he’s in the army and won’t be going to half. There’s at least two who said they or their children are at Uni and will miss over half. There’s one who say they share a ST with about 7 people, so whoever’s ST that is presumably won’t. There’s one guy who said his daughter is living abroad and won’t be going to any games for three years. I’m sure there’s others who’ve talked about only going to Saturday games, which would be doubtful for making half.

Exactly the situation I’m in. 15 years a season ticket holder barely missed a game but because I’ve decided to travel for a year I am now going to be punished and lose my seat. How people defend the club is beyond me.
How long do they let you retain your season ticket if you decide to travel a little longer?

There’s thousands that want season tickets that can’t get hold of one.

Mandatory personal attendance seems unique to us.

You know what's also unique to us compared to the other "big boys"? Proportion of SCs to overall capacity. 2+2=4.

It's got one objective this policy.

On United, I stand corrected if they don't, I just remember them going early on mandatory cup schemes etc. What a sad state of affairs if even they wouldn't stoop this low

Completely irrelevant. The lad who travels is not stopping someone getting a SC. Why are people still using this argument??

What have you read either from the club's statement or on here that's led you to link "there's thousands that want season tickets that can't get hold of one" and SC holders not going to all the matches?

I can't get my head around people who buy a season ticket which by definition is supposed to be used to attend a seasons worth of games are angry that they are now being made to attend at least half of them?, are these people the type to purchase a season ticket just to secure their seat for the bigger games and leave it empty for the remainder ?
Surely not?

And those examples are what you'd put into a bucket of people "happily saying they won't attend half the games"?

Maybe I'm misinterpreting your use of "happily" but I read it as though you think people are taking the piss - if not and you just meant people have been open about it then I apologise mate

You could have the SC for 50 years so what's a few years in the army, or working away?? This policy means you lose it and NEVER get it back again

I reckon these last few games were priced at £71 at the start of the season with the club thinking we’d be in some sort of title race
So they should adjust prices to reflect demand surely??
Yeah it's dynamic pricing, but in this case in a positive way??
As plenty have said - and I love our club and supporters - a couple of seasons playing Thursday night football and not competing at the top end you're not getting "tourists" shelling out £71. So you've priced out locals who'll be spending elsewhere
Dangerous game

Exactly. We don’t have a core fan base like United or Liverpool a couple of seasons of me
So they should adjust prices to reflect demand surely??

Gone the uproar if they priced the last couple of games of last season £100+

No, that wasn’t my intended meaning. I meant they were ‘happy’ as in ‘prepared’ to admit on a public forum. Whereas there will be probably be others who will not want the attention of admitting it publicly.

Look mate, I’m not even saying I necessarily agree it. Let alone praising the decision.

My point was, I understand why the club are reacting to the changing habits of ST holders.

There are thousands who want a season card but can’t buy one. That is indisputable. If the club opened up the sale of season cards again, with no limits on them, we’d probably be able to sell 62k of them.

My mate is an Arsenal season ticket holder - their ticket needs to be used by someone for 20/23 games (they get 4 cup matches a season thrown in for free) and have unlimited number of transfers to friends and family as long as they are a member.
