Yes, you're right that it will put people off, but it's something the clubs have decided they need to do due to the actions of touts, people wanting something for nothing like people who use IPTV instead of paying Sky and BT. I'm not judging people for doing these things, just saying this is the consequence, the businesses that lose income fighting back. The clubs were faced with having to upgrade their entry systems and this is what City decided to upgrade to.
I don't want to tempt fate, but you just don't know that you would have to queue for hours or that person doesn't give a shit about customer service. You're dismissing these solutions and making these assumptions to justify your resistance to change, but this is always happening, like bank closures happened, like cheques made way for cards, only this time it's something that really matters to us. It's a big change I agree, but you have to give it time to see how it works.
