Seasoncard Prices - 2021/22

I think football has a major challenge on its hands - despite an inevitable enthusiasm by supporters to return to stadiums - I'm really not sure football can or should expect full stadiums going forward. I very much doubt the TV companies will want to reduce the number of games they show and having broken the habit of attending games and having learned to spend money elsewhere for a couple of years - an awful lot of people will have broken habits - which they may not necessarily return to - that includes attending sports events, going to the gym, going to the pub etc. It may even be that we do things but we do them less often. The world will be changed by this pandemic and we would all be foolish to assume that we will all return to our own ways. The authorities and clubs have long taken football fans for granted - late kick offs on the south coast etc... As many have said - revenue from supporters (non corporate) is really not that important to clubs and reducing prices to fill stadiums might entice people back and give the TV companies the product they want - lets face it football being played in empty stadiums is crap. Seriously if I was City I'd drop prices by 20 per cent for existing season ticket holders.
I don't know what City will do about season card prices.
Perhaps they will be frozen, increase in line with inflation or maybe a small discount 10-15%.
I would like to see a 2 year season card introduced at perhaps 1.5 times the cost of a single year season card.
Not every supporter who went to matches pre covid will be chomping at the bit to return. An incentive may be needed to encourage those people to renew
What with ridiculous staggered kick offs, theatrical diving and some VAR decisions for example, people are becoming disillusioned with 'the matchday experience' and will vote with their feet bystaying away.
There are advantages on both sides for a 2 year card I believe, for example, reduced admin costs for the club and as a 'welcome back' gesture for supporters.
Or.the club could allow free admission to a couple of cup games possibly?.

The price is obviously very important but the major issue with a lot of people (fully vaccinated or not) is feeling safe and a worry of bringing Covid home after a game.

Without knowing how crowds are going to work inside, travel issues, KO times etc the list is almost endless. There'll be some trepidation returning for some.

I hope the club who I think we can all agree have been brilliant during the pandemic with refunds, not taking advance payments etc get this right too.

I was chatting to a lad I know today who is a rag ST holder. He said they have had an email talking about 21/22 season and pretty much implying it won’t be full stadiums and they will be holding a ballot for ST holders each game. If you are one of those that can attend then you will be automatically removed from the ballot for the next game. They have also given them the option of giving next season a swerve but still having the right to a ST the one after, although maybe in a different seat. Doesn’t sound too promising from that for a full return next season despite what Boris is saying. He is a rag though so might be bullshitting!

You can’t beat the buzz of a match day but I’m debating whether to join a golf club instead...

The challenge is having a seat that is so great in terms of value for money that it’s a no-brainer (or was last time we paid) to renew

That looks a likely scenario to myself, sad to say.

West Ham reported yesterday that they've had a record first week sales for season tickets for next year. Liverpool sales have started and both offer a defer option if supporters don't fancy it.

They also offer a ticket transfer option for family and friends if they can't make the odd game, something City have closed down as an option.

Spurs are on sale too. Frozen in the first phase. "Season Ticket Holders wishing to share their ticket with friends or family members can use Ticket Share and the Exchange scheme will be operating too"

All clubs selling season tickets on the knowledge they won’t be having a full Capacity crowds?! The likes of spurs rags Liverpool sans Arsenal will getting a massive injection of cash and I bet those fans won’t be paid back till next year if it’s only 10% allowed in next season!

Fans will be back but who knows at what level and what restrictions.

I worry longterm, so few young fans who can afford matchday tickets, unable to borrow or share tickets either. Not vaccinated till the season's started either.

So many will stop wanting to go and getting them back into paying to watch City will be a struggle I reckon.

They can't raise prices. Simply unthinkable in this climate.
I got a fiver knocked off this year's house insurance, but the general climate in most things is for stuff to go up in price. We would think that, despite the £126m loss on last season, The Good Sheikh could stuff a hand down a couple of sofas and take the hit, but after yesterday's misfiring I'm not too optimistic.

Looking around the league there's an acceptance that next season will still be different in a lot of ways. Sell out capacity crowds will be few and far between until new year at least. And clubs have responded with freezes, are there any who've increased prices?

I get that prices are going up for all sorts of things but with match day revenue being such a low proportion of income, the amounts involved are negligible.

They obviously aren’t negligible, otherwise the difference between fans and no fans wouldn’t be whats projected to be two years of £50 million plus losses.

It will be a huge PR own goal and a kick in the balls to a loyal fan base to increase ticket prices.

We will lose a huge amount of supporters that will never return (the sceptic in me would suggest that is the eventual end game at most clubs so that they have the revolving door of fans for each seat each game).

If needs be we need to buck the trend and lead the way in football (not for the first time)...........

Could we expect some news from the club soon then seeing as how other teams are at least addressing the issue?

Lost my Dad to this awful virus but want to keep my seasoncard going and transfer his to my brother to honour his memory for at least one season. Then possibly move aside for others to have a chance at getting a s/c.

It's not fans or no fans... Yes that's a lot and those numbers are big. It's about what difference an increase to ST prices makes to the bottom line of the club, for one season. In the grand scheme of things it is negligible and City should freeze prices as others have not least on the back of year on year increases for a decade or so.

I will renew anyway as I drift into the Old Gits prices, but I appreciate many will be forced to make some difficult choices. Maybe the club can be a bit more flexible on SeasonCards to allow legit sharing, though if it's a Test and Trace World that might be difficult, but maybe they could allow you to nominate one other person for your card so any Test and Trace would be limited to those two people. That may help with finances and choices for some fans.
I’ve got several friends who probably won’t be able to afford to renew with work issues, the shared season card strikes me as a sensible solution.
