I'd rather see Alexander Arnold at right back instead of Walker, than shoehorning him in midfield and pushing Foden out left

If Alexander-Arnold wasn’t in midfield, Foden wouldn’t be there instead. For the same reasons Pep doesn’t play Foden there when KDB is playing. Foden would play from the left regardless, but with freedom to go in the middle when the left back overlaps (would work better with Shaw though). If TAA wasn’t there it would be Gallagher or Mainoo instead.

But England struggle to get any form of control to allow Foden to get into those positions. That’s the crux of the issue and why we won’t come close to winning this tournament.

Pretty much on the money

England are too rigid and don't really control the game with any fluidity, so your starting position is basically your position, whereas peps starting position allows movement because we play with fluidity.

So essentially Phil is stuck out on the left unless Waistcoat and England have certainly found another way to play in the past week.
