Sergio Aguero - 2017/18 performances

There was fuck all chances created for him today. No one reaching the goal line and ripping it across ther goal. No one playing him in. He might be off color at the moment but I wouldn't blame him for todays performance.

Theee was one good ball today by Walker to De Bruyne who should really have scored. It was a piss poor attempt by someone of his quality. Aguero was living off scraps today.

although he never stuck me as a player with a huge Ego , maybe with Jesus out now and sanchez not done yet , hope he is determined to cement his place in the starting XI , in the way delph has at LB in mendy's absence

one can only hope ...will always have the city support kun.

Couple of things, Sergio hasn't been great since the accident. True. But we'd also be fooling ourselves if we ignore the reality that our chance creation has been weaker in December.

Debryune, Silva, Gundogan, Bernardo, Sterling and Sane simply aren't creating as much as earlier on in the season. Some of that is due to fatigue, some to how teams play us, and some to a drop in form across the board.

For that we can't just blame Kun. Albeit he too has had a drop in form

There have been some underlying stats that have been worrying about him these past couple of months. Before his two goals against bournemouth last week, the last time he scored from open play in the league was at home against crystal palace back in september. Before the accident he had, he'd scored (edit 6) goals all from open play and assisted 3 in roughly 5 games. In the 10 games since that accident, 4 of his 6 goals have been from penalty and he's only assisted 1 more against bournemouth last week. Now those penalties still need to be scored and some of them have been under high pressure but 2 goals from from open play in 10 games is very worrying for a team with the quality and attacking talent of this city side. If he was contributing a lot to other areas like chance creating and link-up play like jesus often does it could be forgiven but he's also struggling on that side at the moment. The moment right after the penalty miss where the team was on the break he picked the wrong option and the wrong time for that break where it would've been 4 on three and sane drew two of newcastle's players to him. It's little things like that which can prove crucial throughout the season

Imo the main difference between the team now and at the beginning of the season when they were winning comfortably has been that both strikers seemed to have gone off form at the same as the chances are still being created. Hopefully he steps up big time in the second half of the season especially with jesus injury and can score goals when the team doesn't win a penalty.

Whilst agreeing he is far from his peak and we might not see that again, you've missed something in your stats mate. Since his "rest" against United in the Derby, he has scored 3 non-pen goals from in the league (1 Swansea, 2 Bournemouth) from 5 appearances and 382 minutes. Looking at those as a block of games, at times he has been brilliant, wasteful and unlucky...

Still think he is the best striker in the Premier League and the best City have ever had. It would be nice if we cut him the same slack we do to other underperforming players in the team but the forum is all about opinions.

He & Tevez were lethal in our title winning team and if we can pull in Sanchez I think we will see the old Sergio back to his best.

Not having this Dax, he missed a golden chance within the first three minutes away at Newcastle, our chance creation has been fine but we’ve been very profligate in front of goal.

Aguero isn't doing enough, his touch is poor, he's lost his pace and he's lost his killer touch in front of goal.

Apart from Bournemouth. Two good goals and a fantastic assist. Feel free to miss the good things. Certainly we are not creating the chances the same as we were so I think it is a collective thing.

Anyway, I am back off to see whether Everton can get a win!
