Sergio Aguero - 2017/18 performances

the whole team has hit a bit of wall and the games toll in December is a key to fitness and pep and his setup and players is based on 100% fitness or being fitter then the other team and for me aguero is not 100% fit and is struggling to find his game again and he is not looking a goal threat at the moment yes he is working for the team and maybe just having him the pitch give's the defending team something to think about and they double up on him leaving room for others

but the old aguero of being a right handful for the defending team is not there and yes he looks like he is just going through the motions and something is not right and if the fitness thing is why then ok something can be done to help but that little voice in the head is saying sanchez is wanted by pep and the team setup will be focus on him and pep does not really 100% think aguero is his main man

There comes a time when the player alone has to take responsibility for their performances and despite all Kun has done for us, I still think he has failed to fulfil his potential with us. I know it sounds crazy to criticise our record goal scorer in this manner, but when you look at the attack minded managers he has played under and some of the playmakers he has played alongside, his impact on the team should have been a lot greater than it has been. There is no reason whatsoever why Kun should not being doing what Suarez did for Liverpool and what Kane is doing for Spurs and dragging this side forward yet he isn't ever our top scorer this season.

We can look at his injury record, we can look at how he has lost that burst of speed he once had and we can even blame Pep for rotating him. However, he misses far too many chances and he appears to hesitate when a chance appears rather than show that ruthless streak. That is what is stopping him from reaching Messi and even Kane like scoring figures when he clearly has the ability to do so.

i thought his play tonight was far from spectacular, you can see he really has lost a step

He tried so hard, it's painful seeing him bust a gut and then constantly *just* get caught by a defender before getting away/making a pass/shooting.

Thought he had a good game tonight, consistently linked up play, got his goal and forced the own goal through his positioning (and KdB's excellent cross of course). Have to say I'm bewildered by the narrative that's building in some quarters which seemingly wants him out of the club. Let's not forget G.Jesus hadn't scored for several weeks before his injury

playing in pain and the end of the heavy dec schedule, cut him and the others that missed chances a break ffs

He's not had a heavy December schedule though, he started 4/10 games on the bench and came off early in 2 others.

I don't know why you are so incapable of hearing anything other than gushing praise said about Aguero.

Refusing to accept he's in bad form or pretending he didn't miss chances or making endless excuses does actually change the fact that he is in bad form and is missing loads of chances.

And other people saying so doesn't make them some Aguero hating rag who can't wait to see him gone, it's just an acceptance of where he is currently.
