It's confirmed - my calf injury will leave me out for at least a month. The good news is recovery work starts today! We started with therapeutic massages on the area and some bike work.I'll keep you posted. Thanks for the support!

Kin hell, he's only been out a couple of days and he's already back on the bike!

Surely that would be quite painful at this current time?
Uncomfortable, but it's important to train the affected area asap.

That way new muscle cells get laid down in the correct direction and it prevents the formation of scar tissue. It also helps get nutrients and blood flow to the area which also carries away toxins.

You'd normally start rehab as soon as possible using pain as a sign of what you can safely do and what you can not do.

Are there no techniques to reduce the amount of muscle injuries at this club?

You watch - the day Aguero is back, Kompany or Silva will do their calf or hamstring again.

I noticed that Aguero picked up the injury directly after the restart - perhaps he was not warmed up.

Good info, thanks Marvin. You sounds like you either have experience of this or are in the medical field.

Frustrating with the hectic Christmas schedule so close at hand ... but as has been mentioned, having a fresh and hungry Sergio back for the Barca tie and ready for business end of the season, could work out well for us, in the long run.
Would be perfect timing for Jovetic to step up, think he's enjoyed playing the Dippers in the past ?

Perhaps it comes down to the player(s) as they might be more prone to injuries .i am sure the club does everything they can to avoid such injuries.. Seems it happens to the same players over the course of last and this season..

Saw a stat posted on RAWK by a City poster. Didn't believe it at first; Sergio has scored 4 of our last 20 goals. Doesn't tell the whole story of course. His being there creates space and opportunities for others, due to his movement and the sheer threat of what he can do. Still, gives me hope that we can survive without him for 4-6 weeks.

We had noticed that he was limping a little not long after he scored the first goal. Maybe the stretching out for that goal started it off?
Probably just went without warning. The extended highlights on the City website show when it happened, and it all looks very innocuous

I think it's good news that he's already back on a bike, and he's young so he should heal quickly. And he'll get the best of attention.

Looking at the fixture list, the games where we'll miss him are Liverpool and Newcastle away. Like others have said, if we can win those games, then maybe this will work in our favour as we can get other players up to speed, and he gets a rest.

Few people mentioning Jovetic, but it's a big ask to expect him to come in and play at his best straight off. It will take at least a month, and even without Aguero he'll still struggle for games with Negredo and Dzeko

Will be interesting to see what the manager does. On paper Aguero and anyone of Negredo, Dzeko or Jovetic works, but can two of the other three play together? Not sure. I'd prefer to play an extra man in midfield and use Negredo or Dzeko as a lone striker with Jovetic on the left as I think he has played there for Fiorentina.
