Serial Killer at large in Manchester?

Spoke to a fairly senior copper in Cardiff about a year ago; he told me that deaths by drowning by pissed up revellers in the River Taff were far from rare. Rivers are different from canals, though. Much more treacherous.

how come they all seem to walk along the canal alone? surely they cant all be billy no mates...

Just the first three examples of people being lucky to be near a busy part of the canal or with friends. Drink seems to be a big part of them all.

He was telling me that some of them don't even fall in, but get in voluntarily. Whilst it has a comic undertone, it's utterly tragic for the families, accentuated by it being utterly avoidable and the ages of the deceased.
