Michael Turner – Male – 43Y/O – Disappeared 20 July, 2012 – Discovered 28 July, 2012 – River Irk, Batty Street, Cheetham Hill. My brother, Michael Turner, was found dead in the river Irk on July 28 2012. He was last seen on cctv on July 20 2012. He had a drug problem in the past. He had been clean for 18 months. He was actually on a methadone programme. He started at 80ml and he was down to 34ml, he was almost ready to be weaned off the methadone. He was on his way up. His post mortem was inconclusive to a cause of death, like 98% of the men found in rivers in the past 7 years. There were NO drugs in his blood and alcohol found his blood was well below the drink drive limit. There has been NO appeal for witnesses as apparently there is NO specific dates!!!!!! July 20 & July 28 are obviously not specific dates!!!! He also had a bike which was 4-6 weeks old, never to be seen again, even though he is seen leaving his flat with it on cctv. He had left his mobile & cigarettes in his flat, and a half eaten sandwich. Though he was found with £5 in his pocket. If he intended to kill himself, why take £5? Bus fare to Heaven? Plus, Mike had picked up his perscription for his Methodone for the weekend on the day he was last seen. If he wanted to kill himself would it not of been easier to drink all of that, it would of been enough to kill him, rather than go to the lowest part of the river Irk!!!!! Mike was 43, but there are too many inconsistencies around his death, like the numerous other poor souls found in Manchesters rivers & canals. I will not rest until I find out what happened to him!!!

Cracking post, does anyone have the time to check the locations of these and place them on a map we can view? A lot seem to be on Rochdale Canal, it'd be interesting to see the distance of the discoveries.

I reckon the killer is using that shit dexter knocks his victims out with then lobbing them in the canal unconscious

there is something in it with the canals around Manchester like most on here its a puzzle why you should lose your life in that way if you are not on drugs or drunk

I live around both ashton and Rochdale canals in ancoats and they have made a new canal boat marina in new Islington and its a very nice place and on the weekends its packed with people even young kids swimming in the canal its like a day out for people taking picnics drinks BBQ and on the other weekend they was well over 200 people there just having a good time

so if people are using the canals more and more then maybe that's why its happing there is a big rise in modern day living and them new tower blocks with the posh names like islington wharf in and around east Manchester there is a new young community moving in who like the outdoors and canals so it maybe that's something to look at

but its a puzzle

People swim in the canal? No way would you swim in that water. It's still stagnant water isn't it with all duck shit and shopping trolleys and whatever else.

If there are no marks on the body of physical violence then the Police always seem to say there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death even before the post mortem, the latest victim has not been identified yet they have already accepted he must have fell in.
Most, probably have just stumbled or committed suicide in the canal, but a couple do seem a suspicious. I've forgotten his name but that lad that phoned his mother distressed in the early hours of the morning was very strange.

You would expect signs of injury though from a fall so maybe any injuries were consistent with that. So say someone fell, hit their head and knocked themselves out you would accept that. So maybe head trauma would be common in this type of incident. So any signs of head trauma could be consistent with a fall.

Most people don't land on their head in a fall.
