Man found in canal at Manchester's Gay Village named as Sean Markey from Newton Heath

A man found dead in a canal in Manchester's Gay Village has been named as Sean Markey.
The body of the 39-year-old, from Newton Heath, was discovered on Sunday.
A post-mortem examination on the man’s body has proved inconclusive.
More tests are being carried out to establish how he died.
Police are trying to establish Mr Markey's movements before he ended up in the water.
Friends have told the MEN he had had a troubled life and had also been homeless.
The alarm was raised on Sunday afternoon when it is believed a couple on a narrowboat using the canal nearby Princess Street spotted the body floating in the water.
Police went to the scene and an area around GAY bar and Princess Street were cordoned off.
The canal was partly drained before police divers went into the water to retrieve the body. It was taken into a forensics tent set up at the scene.
Crowds had gathered to watch the operation which continued into the night, with people living and working around Canal Street speaking of their shock.
Witnesses said they saw the body in the water within a bag – but police said they believed the body was not sealed inside a bag but may have had one floating on top of it or become tangled in it.
Bob Ramsbottom, 56, landlord of the New Union pub on Canal Street said previously: “We were upstairs on Friday night at around 10.30pm when we heard a very big splash.
“I looked out of the window – we saw someone walking away over the bridge. In nine years, there has been quite a few bodies found in this canal.”
Detective Inspector Brian Morley said: “Our thoughts are with Sean’s family at this difficult time and we are supporting them while we work to establish what exactly happened to him.
“It is not yet clear how or when Sean died so we are urging anyone who may have seen or spoken to him since he was last seen in the early hours on Wednesday, to get in touch with police and help us piece together his final movements.”
