Serial Killer at large in Manchester?

Why aren't the police in the colleges and unis, at least helping young people to watch their back and keep their wits? People are regularly turning up dead in Town and it's seeming a much less safe place as the months go by. My sister's 19 and a smart cookie, but I dread her going into Manchester more and more. If GMP and the council don't get a grip fast Town's reputation will be in bits.

Are there more or less night-out related deaths in Manchester than any other City of similar size? Personally I would have thought it would be about the same as anywhere else

Was thinking the same, Birmingham with all of its canals I wonder if the same ?

RIP Adam

I know this is possibly not the time but every single canal death has said no suspicious circumstances. It doesn't add up. Before two years ago I never heard of anyone dieing in the canal.

If you are in town - stay together.

I would like to see Manchester's accidental deaths compared to Birmingham, Venice and Amsterdam, other cities with extensive urban canals/rivers.

It just isn't sitting right that we have to accept so many young people accidentally turning up dead after nights out. A reputation for it could damage Manchester. So why aren't the council taking an active interest and why are GMP content to shrug their shoulders and say 'Shit happens'?

I look back to when I was young and thought I was invincible but quite possibly Manchester was a safer place to be although there always seemed to be plenty of fights on the walk back to Piccadilly, up Portland St from where I left Jillys on Oxford Rd. We used to get the all night bus and sometimes it kicked off on that but I can't ever recall feeling unsafe and that something fatal might happen. I think of the occasions when I really got too pissed and often walked home and often couldn't even remember how I got home in the first place the morning after. Yet on all those occasions I seemed to have enough about me to come out of a pub/club and head in the right direction and after a few minutes my brain kicked in to the point of getting me home. Mt wife just said it's the reptilian brain which is part of our brains anatomy which kicks our survival instincts in so when you don't know how you got home but you do it's the reptilian part of your brain that on some level kicks in and gets you to safety. It seems these days there are far too many young lads that for whatever reason don't end up getting out of the City centre after a night out. Is it the type of booze they're all drinking these days, when I was younger we had lager, bitter or Newcastle Brown? Something's not right in Manchester.

They aren't saying that though, they are saying there were no 'suspicious circumstances'(in the latest case).

On a wider point, there are plenty of police and other agencies trying to make people aware of drinking too much. Short of building a City long fence up the canal I 'm not sure what else could be done. Accidents, no matter how tragic will happen. I want to stress, I am making a general point, not talking specifically about the Adam Pickup case

No suspicious circumstances, according to police. Do they think we were born yesterday? RIP

They need to give us some answers really.
it is highly suspicious. a lad over 6 ft is found dead near deansgate train station? did he just drop dead? i suppose they do have to wait to do a full investigation on the body but still, it isnt the first time this has happened to a young lad around that area and it probably wont be the last.

Is the cause of death listed as drowning for these bodies found in the canal? I ask because smart serial killers will dump bodies in water because it destroys forensic evidence.

If they are dead before they are dumped in the canal then the cause of death wont be drowning......
