Blue tinted specs.
The whole situation is a farce.
Garry Cook is a wanker.
Matt.D said:TheMightyQuinn said:What about the shit football? What about the fact our games looked like random shambolic events as opposed to tactically astute and organised? What about the fact that even shit teams like Sunderland/Bolton/Burnley all put 3 past us?
Hughes had his chance and he blew it. Time to move on.
i am not arguing whether hughes should have been sacked or not, i am arguing that he vastly improved us.
had you read my previous post properly, and seen the fact i referred to the 8-1 by borough, who were a shit team, put 5 more past us than the teams you have just mentioned. Pompey, birmingham and a shit fulham side all put 3 past us under sven.

Your points are rendered slightly redeundant on several points.
Sven inherited one of the worst squads in the PL-one that had failed to score in ten home games the previous season and escaped relegation by the skin of it's teeth. He the took that squad, added his own players and won the first ten games at home, keeping clean sheets along the way.
Hughes didn't.
Sven was undermined by the owner, told there was no money to sign new players and dismissed in everything but name half way through the season.
Hughes wasn't.
Hughes had over £250 million pounds to spend in 18 months, with a mandate to buy virtually whoever he wanted.
Sven didn't.
Sven didn't blame individuals in the sqaud he inherited for his own failings,or tell everyone to "judge me when I have my own players."
Hughes most certainly did.
And finally-Sven is the fifth most decorated manager in football history.Hughes isn't,and in my opinion, most certainly never will be.
I always thought he was extremely fortunate not to have been given the boot straight after the 0-3 Forest game-a game as equally shambolic as the 8-1 at 'Boro.

im not arguing who was the better manager, or what circumstances are/were involved, i loved sven, but have we or have we not vastly improved as a team from where we are right now to where we finished the season under him?

The Club have done nothing wrong
Anyone on here who thinks they did is in error IMO
The Reason Hughes Had To Go:
Performances, not just results were poor.
There were real question marks over the injury record and motivation level of key signings
The trip to Abu Dhabi in November was also for a major management review following six draws .
The request for further funds for January signings was not well received in light of the above
After defeat in AD there followed further draws from winning positions at a weakened Liverpool & Burnley
Hughes demonstrably failed to get the best from his players or his staff, in particular he failed to manage his defensive coaches
It was decided, quite reasonably, that a new manager and coaching staff were necessary.
The Sacking:
There was no-one in place to act as caretaker over an interregnum, the result of Hughes' staff recruitment policy
A period of Kinnear-style instability was not wanted at this crucial stage of the season.
There is no pain-free way of dispensing with the services of a failing incumbent manager
Just as there is no pain-free way of reading the papers, watching SSN or reading some of the posts on here
