Shamima Begum

My final say on yesterday's events. I explained earlier the reasons why I took the action I did, and why the individuals concerned weren't "removed". And, as I also said earlier, any poster perfectly entitled to put in a complaint re my handling of this issue to the @Ric. Which I would have no part in dealing with such a complaint. At the end of the day, the mods are doing their best to try to keep this place from becoming a bear pit. Yes; disagree with other posters by all means. But stupid bickering and exchanging childish insults doesn't further any debate. And the rules clearly state that any ongoing argument should be taken to pms, if the parties aren't prepared to put each other on ignore. I opted to lock the thread to give people a chance to calm down, and I'm not sure why the timing of it being reopened is an issue. It seems to have picked up where it left off yesterday, only without the ongoing spat. As I said, that's all I have to say on the issue.
Damned if you do…

Don’t envy the mods one bit

Over to ITV 4 for British Nationality Games Extra hosted by Stephen Mulhern.

Shamima has obtained Richard Reid's explosive shoes and has formed an unlikely alliance with Samantha Lewthwaite. Of course there can be only one winner in these games - but the gruesome twosome have clearly decided for the strength in numbers approach to get away from that arsehole who tried and failed to blow up the Tube with a Lidl bag, and his mates Anjem Choudhary and the Tottenham Ayatollah Omar Bakri Muhammad.

I'd like to think he would come on thread and offer something similar but I won't hold my breath
I know you'll say I'm brown nosing (and there may be an element of that). But, to be fair, he does spend a lot of time on behind the scenes stuff on here that the ordinary poster wouldn't be aware of.

How come we aren't removing the citizenship of all the National action mob or Lee Rigbys killers I'm sure we can palm them off on their ancestral homes?

Basically picked on an easy target haven't they to look like they are tough on crime and immigration.
Legally we probably couldn't. I am expecting the little woman to win on appeal anyhow. Look at her current situation as time served when/if she ever gets banged up and then let out early.

I very much doubt it, as my understanding is that she is maintaining she isn't a BGD national. Although entitled to it, she has never claimed it through her parents. To claim it and suggest she go there would be to give an easy win to UK Gov.
I suspect that she will eventually be allowed to return at which point she will be prosecuted. Once she is handed a small sentence and released she will be handed anonymity as per Maxine Carr.

She is not.

She was eligible to apply for Bangladeshi citizenship at the time her UK nationality was revoked. That was why the Home Secretary was not acting unlawfully when he revoked it.

But if that decision were unlawful for other reasons, it would have to be made again as at today's date. Since she is above the age of 21, she is no longer eligible for Bangladeshi citizenship. So if the decision were made today, it would not be lawful to deprive her of her UK citizenship.

...the part that doesn’t sit well with me is that we are stripping a British citizen of their citizenship without taking them to trial and charging them with crimes and also the fact she was a child when she made the decision to join ISIS.

Agreed.

Begum is an easy target that whips the GB News arsehole brigade into a self-righteous tizz while they fantasize about things they would like to do to her. It’s Govt sanctioned revenge porn for them. Sad fuckers.
