Shay - he's leaving

What a surprise his shoulder has gone again. He had bad problems with it at Newcastle and it cost us dear last season.

At 35 years of age, with his injury problems and the wages and 5 year deal we are offering I really dont see what his problem is.

If he behaved himself, kept his mouth shut and was willing to fight for his place he would get plenty of games in the cups, maybe even the league if Harts form dipped, injuries, suspensions etc.

If he demands a move I am got to be a bit disappointed with him tbh.

He's certainly in no position to demand a move if his shoulder has gone again!

If anything, we are left with damaged goods, the word will be out, and we will have to continue paying his wages and still bring in someone else.

Do you think Celtic or Fulham would still find use for a one-armed keeper?

We'll chuck Caceido in too!

He'll be treated like a god in the East end of Glasgow if he goes there but Celtic must be offering bawbees if even Rangers can outbid them on loan deals. There comes a time when City need to start making money back even if it is on loan deals........

Dont think Shay would play for rangers if they paid him £500k pw

If he's at a specialist for his shoulder I doubt anyone will want him as their n#1 keeper. Of course that may be an excuse and he's really talking to a German club.
Maybe he's just there as part of a regular check-up. Post op review etc

So if Given's shoulder is injured it is unlikely he will be going anywhere before the transfer window shuts. So how does this affect the 25 man squad? Will City have to name Hart, Given and Taylor in the 25 thus leaving only 22 places for outfield players?

on that midnight train to...Celtic

Hear City will reluctantly help him find a No.1 position elsewhere- with 24 hour recall.

Celtic are his preferred option, albeit not the most lucrative for us.

Fulham trying to muscle in.

Shame - if it was just down to money, think he would be defo staying.

New loan move rules state a player who goes on a season long loan cannot be recalled

I have a pretty good memory, and I still don't know where this fictional previous shoulder injury has come from, I watched him with Ireland for years and while he was with Newcastle he only ever missed games from the injury he got at west ham where he was left needing surgery after being hit by Harewood and a groin injury that was related to the weakness of his core from the injury I just mentioned. That's it, all of his injuries, I have no idea where this imaginary shoulder injury has come from, now I could be wrong, he might have injured it pre season one season but it never ever forced him to miss a game, Irish or Newcastle. All I can see is an injury rumour some anti Given have made up to give another reason why he shouldn't start. Now if I'm wrong, I'll put my hands up, but show me anything that suggests he had a previous shoulder injury that has had any impact on his game because I cannot remember and I have a pretty good memory and it would have most deffinetly be covered over here had it happened.

His problem is, is that he's 34 and wants to start games, unlike some City players, and what the new breed of City fans who think it's not all about the money. For old school players, not modern day brats, they want to play games more than recieve their wage, and I thought he wouldn't be begrudged that after he gave the performances he did last season.

Before the season started he said once he might consider a move if he's not picked to start, just like Hart said on numerous occasions, and no doubt Hart would probably be at another club by now, with probably most people's best wishes if he had not been selected, there hasn't been a sound from Given, and you're making presumptions, just as you are with why he went back to Munich.

Give the lad a break, surely he's done enough to get respect he deserves.

We'll chuck Caceido in too!

Specialist checking on shoulder as requested by proposed loaning club.

An insurance thing.

I wonder what the purpose of a long detailed contract is really worth ,as we knew a top keeper would spend time watching and being paid a mint to do so.As an employer if thats what we want surely the player has no option but to agree for the sake of his future and the success of the club. When we see so many almost running the show and City having to pay of the likes of Bellamy to keep his mouth shut ,do the owners feel the same about Given.

I always thought he was a top club man and used to seeing Harper sat in his wings ,there is far more to this issue than mets the eye.

-- Fri Aug 20, 2010 2:01 pm --

I wonder what the purpose of a long detailed contract is really worth ,as we knew a top keeper would spend time watching and being paid a mint to do so.As an employer if thats what we want surely the player has no option but to agree for the sake of his future and the success of the club. When we see so many almost running the show and City having to pay of the likes of Bellamy to keep his mouth shut ,do the owners feel the same about Given.
