should city sell de jong?

just read this. as stated before cant think of a more stupid statement.

lets go through the criteria. gaz baz suddenly the love of the fans. so someone explain to this expansive game he has got compared to de jong. show me. he cant pass accurately more than 10 yards. assists are minimal at best. goals ok but only by a small amount. and cant be relied upon defensively as much as Nigel.

next year yet again you will be shouting for Barrys head. i have nothing against him but basically the difference is.

barry 100% fit - nigel not even close yet, and when he is he will be back. no need for silva to track back and try to defend when a fully fit de jong in the side.

Lol Barry is so much better than De Jong - he does everything in the game better. Barry is an excellent player.

entitled to your opinion.

this is the same barry that was slated as the cart horse for the last 18 months. the same barry that was made the scapegoat of england because of last years world cup when nothing he did was good enough for anyone.

he has got himself fit over past summer and has been a lot better i admit but is not and never will be the player de jong is. as i say thats my opininon.

if it was a battle of a game i know who i would prefer.

when you come on next season slating barry again i will remind you of this. stephen ireland scenario rings a bell. most couldn't wait to get rid of him for years worked well one summer and looked a better player only to be found out again.

I have always said Barry is better than De Jong, which he is. De Jong destroys our attacks by playing as a third cb and holding onto the ball for too long added on to the fact that he really isnt that greatc defensively.

Don't get into a De Jong argument with Sabster- he has NEVER rated him, to the extent I am almost convinced there is something personal. However, unfortunately, De Jong has been nowhere near his best this year. Last season, De Jong was perfect for our style of play, and not far from our most important player.

This season, though, he hasn't reached those standards. I hope that is down to fitness, and not that the new, improved style (at least at the start of the season) is too good, and fast for him. As you are right, if De Jong was to sit and do the job he did last season, he does protect the back four more than Barry. And, no matter what people might say, De jong is trying to improve his attacking game more, you can see from the passes he tries.

However, Sabster is right; currently, De Jong's all round game is more limited than Barry's- Barry has a great range of passing. Give De Jong time to get back to full fitness though, as the De Jong of last season would be great. I just hope it is fitness that has been the problem this season...

great believer in if they dont want to be here then let them go, that will go for any player
