current personnel Lescott has been too good to drop, if this lad signed deploy him in midfield with Baz.

---Martinez--Barry---
--------Yaya-------
-Silva--CT/MB/ED-Aguero-

keeps the midfield full of quality and lets Yaya play his best role.

Lescott was great this year. But I think the question is: Is Lescott the type of CB that Bobby wants partnering with Kompany? My opinion is no.

perhaps in Europe but Lescott has proved time and time again throughout his career he is a top CB in the English league.

I agree but that doesn't answer the question of is Lescott the type of CB that Bobby wants partnering with Kompany.

I think that Mancini has no issue with Lescott in the prem but i think he has massive issues with him in Europe where centre backs are more ball players because contact is all but outlawed.

I think whoever we get will rotate Jolean with vinny being permanent cb

Room for both if you ask myself

Martinez would be used primarily in centre mid with Yaya. That would be a world class partnership and dominate any midfield in europe. He could also be used as cover at CB should VK or JL get injured/suspended. There is zero need to drop JL he is a very good centre back.

With Martinez we'd be basically getting a 2 for the price of 1 kind of player.

Absolutely top drawer business if we do sign the kid.

Not bothered if Chelski sign Hazard, Hulk and even Falcao, if we got Martinez our midfield two of Yaya and Javi would be near untouchable.

Mighty Barry with Javi wont be to shabby either with Nigel sitting back behind them, allowing Martinez to play in a more advanced position.
Opponents will need to find a way to play past our midfield or else they're doomed... or more likely they'll put 10 men in the box and try to hit us on the counter.

I don't think we would see De Jong, Barry and Martinez playing together too often, perhaps with Barry and Yaya pushed further forward or even more attacking in the majority of games.

------- Martinez --- Yaya T -------

Nasri ---------- Silva --------- Bale [or Tevez just behind Aguero]

------------- Aguero --------------

I wouldn't be suprised if we sign Martinez during the tournament if Athletic agree to sell. We signed David Silva that way if I recall.

Will Athletic sell? He's one of their bright young players.

Of course if he wants to leave, then great. I just can't see a Basque wanting to leave Athletic, a club that is sound financially and has no apparent reason to sell. Glad we have M'Vila as a backup.
