This is not FIFA!

Never played it, you may be right and I could be wrong, but provided all players accept that rotation will happen, Mancini wants us to win every match (in theory) which means almost a 70 game season. I think provided he doesn't use any favoritism but players are picked on merit and tactics I beleive that squad could get on without too many sacrifices.

Rotation is great but the reality is Mancini for crunch games will have a best 11 - that was clearly evident during the last 6 games of our season with the only changes being made to the bench.

The reality players want ot play in the big prem league and CL games, finals etc and not in the carling cups, away at Wigan etc.

The lack of game time probably cost AJ his place in the England squad, Milner place would have been a close run thing and players will also be looking at this also.

We need some smart buys players, we have already seen Hazard go to Chelski with one of the reasons being cited was game time and no matter what people think players coming to this club will want to seek assurnances over the amount of games they will play.

current personnel Lescott has been too good to drop, if this lad signed deploy him in midfield with Baz.

---Martinez--Barry---
--------Yaya-------
-Silva--CT/MB/ED-Aguero-

keeps the midfield full of quality and lets Yaya play his best role.

I'm sure if Martinez is bought, it is not primarily as a central defender, but a frigging awesome stand in for any of our regular CB's.
Javi will be one of the best midfielders in the world in a few years. He'll be like Yaya and Nigel combined with the workrate and attitude of Zabaleta.

I really hope we sign him.

if true i cannot see a club like bilbao turning down 25 million quid.

Well they are, from what I understand, in a very healthy financial situation, their players are a very loyal bunch and can only sign regional players, so dealing with them might be tricky.

Javier Martinez Bid to start summer spending

Ok, as reported this morning in one of the papers, hopefully this one is true as he is a quality player:

Manchester City will begin their summer spending with a £25million offer for Athletic Bilbao defender Javier Martinez.

After missing out on Chelsea-bound £32m Belgian winger Eden Hazard, the Premier League champions are resolved not to lose the race for Martinez.

The 23-year-old excelled as Athletic reached the Europa League Final last season and will be part of the Spain squad defending their European crown.

Manchester United and Barcelona have also been tracking Martinez, but Roberto Mancini wants a top-class defensive recruit after being priced out of a move for AC Milan’s Thiago Silva.

Mancini was told it would cost City £25m plus Pablo Zabaleta to prise the Brazilian away from the Italians when he visited the Milan training ground last week.

That was too expensive even for City, who have now set their sights on Martinez. City’s hopes of completing the deal before Euro 2012 kicks off on Friday is optimistic, although they did sign David Silva two years ago during Spain’s triumphant World Cup campaign.

The Blues will also have to be patient in their bid to land Robin van Persie as the Arsenal ace will not decide about his future until after the Euros

Great news if true. This lad is a top quality player, and would allow us to give Yaya a much needed rest, as well as providing cover for Kompany. A no brainer of a signing.

25m plus Zabaleta? I love Thiago Silva but he's not worth 70m!
