Sir Joe ?

Didn’t Joe once say after a defeat in the 1st division we played like they thought they were arsenal but we are not and need to do the basics first!!

hmm last Saturday we played like we thought we are arsenal too

Got to say never got him as a player for us, but I think he had knee issues when he played for us and was never the same player he was at Everton.

Kiddo made Joe Royal at City, that was a good partnership, Kiddo was a superb player for us.
My favourite performance from Joe Royle was 3 1 home win against Liverpool in the autumn of 1977. Think we were one down in the first half but in the second ripped them up for arse paper. If remember rightly Joe scored one and narrowly missed another from the half way line. Wins against the dippers were very rare and that one of my all time Maine Rd days.

Just watched the Gillingham & Blackburn games. Think we owe a major debt to Joe Royle. Thank you Sir Joe. Where would we be now without you.
You could argue that him sorting out and trimming down our huge squad and getting in Andy Morrison was the best transfer activity that’s ever been done at City.

I loved that team n’all, the players we had were all likeable and still legebds.

Yeah he cleared out the mega squad to a manageable size, didnt we have 50+ players when he arrived?
Achieved a lot with us and will always ve fondly remembered by many. The back to back promotion may have surprised some but after beating Stoke we built some real momentum, both promotions done the hard way in the end. Shame it ended the way it did, would hope Joe is welcome at the Etihad these days

Some of the best times I had watching City. Sure we've seen better quality football now, but I got to go to grounds I've never seen before, saw Kevin Horlock sent off for agressive walking at Bournemouth and I still get a shiver when thinking of the 28th Dec game when Stoke went in 1-0 up at half time.

Joe gave some team talk 'cos we reaped the whirlwind in the 2nd half and blew them away. The fight from our players was just awesome, the crowd in full voice egging the boys on and a 2-1 victory that set us on our way to Wembley.

I was 14 years old and in a box at the top of the kippax for that Stoke game. Glory days!
