Sky (bet) sports and Paul Merson

Totally agree with that TCIB. That level of human behaviour is so hard-wired in it becomes a completely redundant statement.

However, it's all about the optics for these gambling organisations and they have to be seen to be taking responsibility for their duty of care to the customer.

I would enjoy asking the betting bosses about that. It is a throw away comment at best, at worst betrays a severe lack of understanding regarding human nature. I would ask them how such a comment can be used when human nature dictates we become invested in behaviour even if destructive; That getting out of such a nasty downward spiral can take more than a simple mental switch of "stop". We just don't work that way, never have and they know it.

It seems to me, and has for some time, that the "When the fun stops, stop" slogan is included in their adverts more as an afterthought or an obligation, rather than a genuine part of a strategy to help control addiction to gambling.

Sorry mate it's no ones fault.....individuals need to take responsibility for their individual actions. Not blame anyone or anything else.
They can advertise say whiskey 24/7 and I will never touch it. I hate the smell and taste.....so we disagree!
It's no-one's fault, but it's the individuals fault? Don't they contradict each other? Sorry mate, but you've fallen for the propaganda that anyone who sells addictive or harmful shit puts out. It's never their fault for selling it and deliberately targeting vulnerable people. It's the addict's fault, even though we know quite a lot about how the brain of an addict works and how they struggle to have the same individual choice as a non-addict. Just keep blaming individuals and watch the problem get worse and worse. Or accept there's a systemic problem and actually do something about it. Those are the options.

Genually sorry he's a mess again, much as I don't like him & he comes across as a right wanker but I'd not wish his ex and current troubles on anybody.

He needs to get off and stay off punditry and into a clinic.

Used to always see Quinny etc in that little ladbrokes facing the parkside.
Getting back to Merson can’t stand the prick to be honest, but hope he can sort this out as an addiction can be a very lonely place

It’s the governments’ fault for not treating it lie it does cigarettes.

I’ve known decent people ruined by it. More then I’ve seen killed by the fags actually.
