So, if we don't win the Prem..

It won't be a failure, no. We have won a trophy and progressed in the CL, (as well as giving a good account of ourselves in that competition).
Failure would be for Pellegrini to have come here to this new country, done shit and got us outside the top 4, with us going out of the cup comps in each of their respective opening rounds. Some Blues on here act like that is what has happened, when the truth is actually the complete opposite.

Apart from the fact he's been here for 10+ years, which makes his tenure exactly what people are trying to suggest Pellegrini's is - a failure. :-)

If we start to tail off in the league yes
I'd like to think if we don't win it we will run the winners close to within a couple of points

I think we can win the league and I want to push Chelsea all the way so it's not decided until the last kick on the last day. The fact of the matter is that if we'd stopped them doing us home and away this season then we'd be comfortably top. The early away losses have done us this season. If we don't win the league then we make the improvements we need and have another go next season.

No failure for me. I've loved the 6-3 over Arsenal and the Semis against West Ham.

No, not a failure. The only thing that would change that opinion for me is if we were to fail to get at least 4th. The Premier League is a tough environment and much depends on things you have no control over, injuries and refs to name but two. Champions League football is something else, it's not actually good to watch sometimes, games are all stop start and City have to work out some way of getting round the fact that the refs are poor and won't let a tackle of any robustness go in. The most important thing for City right now is to stay in the pack, domestically and in Europe. In wasn't long ago that there was an establishished "big four". We have kicked the door in on that particular party and we need to hang around in Europe for years on end for the obvious bias against us to subside. If someone tapped me on the shoulder in 2010 and told me what was in store for the next five years I would have been punching the air with delight. We've been to Wembley this year, we have won a trophy. We can qualify for Europe and play a part in keeping our local rivals out of the Champions League next season, that isn't failing.

No.

We were 11 points behind 1st place last season, we will be closer this season - progress.

We have won a trophy which we didn't do last year - progess.

We reached the last 16 of the Champion's League which we've never done before - progress.

If we don't win the Premiership it will be a massive disappointment, but this season won't have been a failure.

This is also Pellegrini's first season in English football. I imagine he will be better next season when he has an even bigger stamp on the squad.
