You're a bit of a groupie for posh boys, aren't you?

I think the correct term is a "gentleman's gentleman"
Wrong on both counts.

I think you're a gentleman mate, a proper nob.

I used the word nob in its correct and most respectful term.

It was like his invite to the mods Christmas party.
I'm a man that can open doors.

We should all be grateful that you mingle with the proles. I know I am, if I had a forelock I'd give it a tug.

I think in deference to his status we might refer to him henceforth as 'Mr Moustache'

We are all agreed. Ric should change his name forthwith.

reading this thread whilst seven budgies imitate uwe rosler's granddad over and around my head and all to the sound of my seven year-old playing variations on a theme of fur elise on the baby grand whilst I drum my fingers impatiently waiting for delivery (per tracking) of my new ruger sr45.

sanity in a deranged world.

I dont have such an issue with SSN or Talksport as they are commercial companies and therefore feel they need to appease the Rag masses but I do have a problem with the BBC I pay for that and the only friendly match that has its own full page spread and ticker tape is United we nor any other club is mentioned

Now there are people who say "its unimportant" "who cares" well I am sure our commercial department cares because the perception is that United are the only club in the UK and if we want sponsors to start paying big money to enable us to compete with the likes of United we need the awareness to grow worldwide. Being ignored by the media does not help

Does your condoning of Commercial Stations / Channels not also apply to the BBC ?
None of them are for example Company Auditors paid to confirm or otherwise the validity of perhaps skewed accounts. They all chase their perceived largest audience and whats more the BBC use our money to find out this information.

Not saying it is correct but that I think is the reality of the situation.
Of course they are all skewed to report unfairly, that is never in doubt, but they are the vehicle of 'News' whatever form this takes so as such they will have a minority of complaints about the content. They have researched their target audience.
Whats more, they do not have to give any of these complaints an airing so I understand our frustration and this thread allows us to vent our disapproval.

Whether or not this is an Agenda is hard to prove but if they all use the same demography info source (or at least have similar distribution figures) then their Editors will issue biased reporting instructions to their reporters to ensure they please their target audience.
Failure to comply with this may be a career shortening experience for any fair minded reporter.

The BBC is funded completely differently from commercial TV and radio which are funded through sponsors and advertising revenue. The BBC is funded by the TV licence which we dont have a choice about paying and therefore the BBC should be independent unbiased and honest. Being a click whore for United fans does not meet those ends as they do not have a target audience rather it should provide a public service for all its customers

Agreed, I think I understand my contribution to its empire building but this does not prevent them from having to compete with the Commercial Stations for an audience.
They are simply not indifferent to their ratings whether it be for documentaries, soaps or in our case sports programs.

The next four things on ss1 involves the rags. Two of which are games where they beat us .

Ssn also runnin a ticker regarding the rags friendly yet no mention on any other friendlies.

Fans from other clubs should come together and let it be known to sky how pissed off everyone is gettin .

Sorry to go off topic for a moment but my last post reached the heady heights of a full 100 posts.

Whilst I don't expect life changing experiences from now on I have had a sleepless night in anticipation of the privileges this achievement brings,

Congratulations, SF2.

In accordance with the forum's constitution, you are now allowed the pick of Bluemoon's fresh young virgins.

[Haha. That should keep him quiet for a couple of weeks while he looks for one.]

Thanks for that honour .

Most knights of the Realm that i have had dealings with would have kept that privilege to themselves.

The coverage of United this summer compared to other clubs is the most disproportionate I've ever seen. It's obsession with the media serving as a national fanzine. I will say it again - Van Gaal nearly took over Spurs and if he had, he would be getting as much attention as Pochettino is (nearly none). United may be a huge club with many fans, but there are more people who don't like United than people who do like United, something our joke of a media fails to understand. I'd actually be uncomfortable if City were treated with such vile sycophancy. I like reading positive articles about City, but if we got this amount of fawning propaganda, it would be awkward.

Perfectly put that LC, my feelings on the issue exactly.

Has anyone got the sky sports app...last 5 days has had Louis the god as the main pic on there daily football link..it beggers belief...

It's like the media are employed by the scum and is why Liverpool hate the fuckers with a passion because when the rags had a handful of trophies and Liverpool were winning everything 2 1/2 times more trophies than them all the media then were still licking there arse hole!

Well, they are setting themselves up for an Epic Fall II, if all this goes haywire. Last season should have taught them some caution. The rags don't only have to overtake one of the top 4, they have to consider Spurs too whose signings should finally bear some fruit.

Oh well, we will have to thrash them again home and away and live with being not loved. The winning seems sweeter that way anyway.

The media are directing their coverage primarily at United fans but also at the ones that don't like United.

Like it or not fans of Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs, Everton and, dare I say it, City are more interested in what's happening at United at the moment than they are of any other club apart from their own. Because they know that whether Van Gaal is a success or failure impacts on their club.

In truth fans of Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal are not paying a lot of attention to City's pre season. We're a known quantity. A very dangerous known quantity, but still a known quantity. They'll be interested in how fit Aguero is when he starts playing. They'll be interested if Yaya shows any signs of a lingering desire to move. And they'll be interested if we pick up any injuries. But they're not remotely interested in routine pre season fixtures.

Most of the coverage of Van Gaal is favourable, just as it was with Moyes 12 months ago but there's enough negative stuff if you want to look for it. Quite an interesting article in the mail about his feud with Cruyff which doesn't exactly paint him in a good light. Comments about him openly criticising United players at a public training session. They're not going to lay into him whilst he's in his honeymoon period but I suspect that if he gets off to a bad start they'll give him a harder ride than they did Moyes.

The longer the media wankfest goes on the more fans will turn to resent it and will switch off. I don't care about the media anymore, not bought a paper in EONs and as for SSN and the talkshite radio station and the rest they are completely shite. Let them big him up proof of the pudding so to speak will be in the eating.

I dont agree with this at all. United before anyone forgets were 7th in the league last season. Last year they had the perfect successor to Ferguson and look where that got them. There is no guarantee that Van Gaal will be the real deal he may be but I am certainly not as concerned with them as I am with Chelsea and Arsenal

Labelled as a genius for swapping his goalkeeper then, when his team lost on penalties, no criticism levelled against him for damaging the confidence of his keeper.
