Labelled as a genius for swapping his goalkeeper then, when his team lost on penalties, no criticism levelled against him for damaging the confidence of his keeper.
Cillessen hasn't saved a penalty in his life, I don't think it was anything to do with Van Gaal.

Besides, penalties are a lottery. Anything can happen.

So given the relative merits of Cillesen and Krul on penalties he still gambled with the third substitution of Huntelaar for Percy . Also sending up Vlaar to take the first penalty. Wake up mate the smell of that coffee is overwhelming.

The coverage of United this summer compared to other clubs is the most disproportionate I've ever seen. It's obsession with the media serving as a national fanzine. I will say it again - Van Gaal nearly took over Spurs and if he had, he would be getting as much attention as Pochettino is (nearly none). United may be a huge club with many fans, but there are more people who don't like United than people who do like United, something our joke of a media fails to understand. I'd actually be uncomfortable if City were treated with such vile sycophancy. I like reading positive articles about City, but if we got this amount of fawning propaganda, it would be awkward.

you are paranoid. the lentil eaters say you are. there is no agenda.

If the Titanic had hit the agenda rather than the iceberg it would have gone down even quicker!

Like it or not fans of Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs, Everton and, dare I say it, City are more interested in what's happening at United at the moment than they are of any other club apart from their own. Because they know that whether Van Gaal is a success or failure impacts on their club.

I dont agree with this at all. United before anyone forgets were 7th in the league last season. Last year they had the perfect successor to Ferguson and look where that got them. There is no guarantee that Van Gaal will be the real deal he may be but I am certainly not as concerned with them as I am with Chelsea and Arsenal
Not at all interested in the third coming, never read it just turn over the page. Waste of paper as far as I am concerned, about on a par with the cruise adverts.

lets see who finishes 7th this season and watch how their pre season is covered next season.

I think we could bet our last penny on how that will go and be certain of winning.

Herbert, Ladyman, Ogden.
All of these chaps have their head so far up utds arse they could tell you what van gaal had for dinner.
Shame as i have had to blacklist the telegraph and independents ip's from my computers due to the blatent unbalanced reporting in utds favour.
All i want is a reporter who reports without any agenda be it to generate hits at any cost or to stay good with x club. Just do your fukin jobs ffs. I feel like bashing my head against a wall sometimes.

Samuel and the blue young writer of the year chap need not look over their shoulders anytime soon.

Somebody somewhere in the media should write an article about the blatant bias on Ssn and talkshite towards the Rags, and post on social networks and any other media outlets that have the balls to publish it. Come on PLEASE

The media never turn on each other. It is an unwritten law. Even for short term commercial advantage. Like the masons, they have an invisible bond.

What is interesting is that the reporters who are more balanced in reporting City and FFP win awards. This is because they are exceptional in sticking to journalistic principles rather than bowing to editorial dictates. The press hordes however cannot afford to take that line.

Do you think that the skewed emphasis on others is more prevalent at this time of the year simply because there are no real games to report ?

During the League season the results and the reality of action are the focal points whereas now they struggle to sell football except via transfer news and the Fantasy Football / Promotional stuff currently being played so they focus more emphatically on their majority circulation targets.

It was nice this morning to see Sky having finally taken down Van Gaal's arms aloft pose from their headline page. While their friendly win continued to occupy column inches, ours was nowhere to be seen.

Today's papers feature some inane comment by Giggs about the quality of the passing drills in training and Woodward's pronouncements of unlimited transfer funds.

I am so pleased we continue to keep our mouths shut while the papers are filled with LFC and MUFC shrapnel.

Remarkable

Countdown to kick-off: Chelsea look strong and are many people's favourites to win the title

Possibly, yes.

Rag acolytes can afford to be cock-a-hoop at the moment while they are fuelled by hope. Same as last season. Things went distinctly quieter once they got a string of shite performances under their belts. They'll fare better for longer this year but reality will dawn eventually.

Remember the days when blind optimism was all we had to comfort us?

Last time I looked Skybet had MUFC as bookie favourites in a book that excludes Chelsea and MUFC.

I doubt this is any bias simply a realisation that if they want more money on the League Title they had better exclude the favourites and make their book accordingly.
