So what price a fully fit MJ?

Strange how people are telling others to give up on him when he is actually fit (or close enough). Why not when he was injured and the club was fully behind his rehabilitation? He's near enough fit now, why not wait and see what he is like on the pitch again when he is 100%?

Some players who have turned out very good had regular horror injuries earlier in their careers. If this latest comeback leads to another injury then I may say "time to let him go" along with the rest of you.

Brian Kidd:

“If you can get Michael in, then the club wouldn’t want to spend money.

We are a work-in-progress. The owners and the board have had this vision, but grassroots will never be done away with at Manchester City.

Before the set-backs, Michael looked as though he would be one of the top midfielders.

They were making comparisons with Colin Bell, one of the greatest midfield players – that’s some achievement.”

He was under contract no club will keep renewing the contract of a player who keeps getting injured. Noone is saying give up but be realistic he has missed his most important years to develop. Sad but true, it would take a miracle for him to get back to even the level he was before the injuries. Thats sports for you.

Fuck me , talk about kicking someone when they're down !!!..........if a young lad like's a beer it doesn't make him an alcoholic , also he didnt label himself the 'new Colin Bell' WE did!!! . i for one dont think he's finished , (although another setback could change that) , and im sure City feel he's worth persevering with

Speak to MJs dad fairly regularly.
If fit at the start of the season he will be going on loan to Leicester,Leeds or Espanol.
Leicester is preffered by Mike due to rapport with Sven.

And Bobby Manc's rapport with Sven?

guy has the potential to be the english Fabregas.

people on here really have short term memories.

under sven he was amazing and has been badly injured since.

this year he'll shine and we'd be fools to be impatient now.

Would be great if we had another product from the youth team. Class is permanent.

I have to agree with some on here, we do big are academy players up to levels that are not justified, but MJ was the exception. He had a lot of talent and he pissed it up the wall and for that its a disgrace. If your a professional footballer, you SHOULD NOT drink alcohol, i mean FFS, you have a short career, there is plenty of time when you hang up yer boots to do that.
In times past maybe thats what players did, but now things are different, the football athlete is a different animal........ its called being PROFESSIONAL!

You're not a professional if you go out and drink booze? I'd put a bet down that a minimum 70% of professional athletes across all major sports either drink booze, smoke pot, or snort cocaine. Some of the best players in every sport drink more and do more drugs than you could ever imagine. It was the injuries that sunk this kid, not the booze. I still think he's got a chance to make an impact, maybe even here (which would be great). The real point is I'm sick of people sitting on a high horse saying, "I would never drink if I had that talent. Where do these athlete's get off drinking...Blah blah blah"
Get fucking real.

Just thought i would add a coment to this about michael johnson. I worked in a bar in marbella a couple of years back when at the end of the season most of the players come in. Michael came in with a friend relativly early in the night ordered a drink i think an ameretto or something along them lines and for every alcholic drink he had he had a soft drink afterwards wasnt drunk and at max he had about 4 drinks he was one of the most down to earth lads you could meet was joking about were i lived in manchester and schools etc. At around 12 the boro team came in this was the season they beat us something like 5-1 last game of the season the boro lads were all acting the big ones mj was just stood there looking embaressed said he had a meeting the next morning said thank you and left the bar. All the boro players who noticed him was calling him boring etc whilst most were rolling drunk and being arrogant idiots. Moan about injuries etc but having being a city fan who has met him he is a brilliant down to earth lad and his talent if still there is timeless but dont say he is a big head or alchy due to you seeing him in a bar you go in with a drink in his hand with normal people rather than frecquenting circle pangea like the others where you wouldnt see them.we should wish him the best in his career wherever it may be and hope he gets fit and proove the doubters wrong

I hope he gets a chance again, shame to see young raw talent waste away. Local lad needs to get fit again and make his challenge

+1

From the little we've seen it's clear he's got a lot of ability. Not sure why some on here are so keen to write him off already, at least the club haven't!
