Sorry but this is rubbish Given made one mistake he is human FFS, Ireland is not 100% fit, Tevez is around 60% fit fought back from a knee injury cut him a bit of slack FFS.

Richards had a nightmare from the first minute until the 97th minute no excuse can be made for that many mistakes in one game.

What worried me about Given was his inabilty to really stamp his authority on crosses ....... the rags scored two close-in almost copycat headers yesterday , and they seemed to come from around the six yard box area ....... an area that a goalkeeper should really dominate.

Other than that he was excellent , although Berbatov really should have put one of those headers past him.

As for Richards ...... yes ...... you could ask questions as to where he was when at least two of their goals went in , and especially the last one ....... SWP had to try to halt Owen from a good distance away , and Richards was clearly at fault.

We suffered in the second half because Ireland clearly wasn't fit and it showed the longer the game went on , De Jong simply ran himself into the ground , and Barry had to try to help the overworked defence out ........ and all that isolated the forwards.

Agreed thought Given could have got a punch on at least one of the crosses. The midfield were knackered by the end SWP was Carrying Richards and couldn't get forward as much as usual, Barry was covering the centre halves and trying to attack, and De Jong was carrying Ireland in the second half.

Petrov should have come on at half time and i'd have put Zab on in the first half when it was obvious he was having a mare. Then MH should have used a sub in injury time to try and halt there attacks.

Let's get a grip blues.

Getting on Micah's back because the ref played on until the rags scored again is not the answer. Micah also scored (in reality) the first goal against Arsenal and set up Bellamy's goal that swung the entire game for us. And the entire defence, not just MR was asleep when Rosicky made it 4-2. We take the rough with the smooth, and while they're in the team we back our players.

Or, we can make another Richard Edgehill out of him if we want.

Let's face facts. We have now just gone toe to toe with 2 of the top four sides in Europe (based on the Champions League semi finals last season) and we have not been found wanting on either occasion. The media was writing us off as a bunch of overpaid mercenaries before the season and now they are accepting us as genuine top 4 contenders if not championship contenders. Let's focus on that, and not on Micah having an off day.

I knew everybodies having a go at Richards, but what about the other 3 names in back 4 who collectively cost over £50 million
yet didn`t really win a header all day. Mr Given also repeatedly booting ball out to rio, with it coming straight back. Ireland having another game which just passed him by. Tevez a virtual passenger in 2nd half?

The only point I want to pick up on is Given hoofing it forwards. I thought he did this against the Arse quite a bit also. It's like we said 'they're better than us midfield, so lets bypass the bastards'. Even with Ade, it's only a 50% chance of keeping possession, Sunday we saw the decreased odds.
IMO MH has form on this. Maybe that's why Robbie makes a difference, or Ireland being a bit further forward.

I agree that Micah was definitely not at his best and we have a squad so lets use it.

I think there is a balance to be struck between standing by your player and not dropping them after one bad performance, so its a difficult call from a management perspectivs.

I'm not sure whether he doesn't deserve a chance to show he can concentrate for the full 90 minutes or whether he shoudl give Zab or Unuoha a chance to make the position theirs.

Whatever, please lets not make the lad a scapegoat and jump on any little mistake a la Edghill, Ireland and others !! He needs our support.

I still believe the lad can improve - its not so long ago he was playing solidly for England and people thought he had made the right back berth his own !

Excuse me, Given is a great shot stopper, but his distribution is appalling, nearly every time he got the ball he just booted up field, giving the ball away most of the time. He keep doing it last season repeatedly, even when our tallest forward was only about 5 foot 8.

If players aren`t fit they shouldn`t play, or at the very least be taken off when there knackered !

and i just wish MR would play the ball sooner to team mates in the attcacking 3rd, instead of trying to dribble players and be a play maker........leave the to SWP superman etc please micah

I think he has had too many chances, he was abysmal last season but was protected by Dunnie so now it is time for MH to drop him and get Zabaleta in there.

It is not a case of making Richards a scapegoat, he is just not good enough. He is lazy and there have been times this season when he was in the wrong half of the pitch and he has strolled down as if he were out for a Sunday afternoon walk. I have watched Stevie Ireland run almost the full length of the pitch while Richards has done 20 yds.

When he is in the correct position he just crouches over in front of the opposing player as if to say look at me I know what to do and while he poses and postures the other player has just skipped round him leaving Richards looking like a wally. He had a couple of mediocre games for England never top drawer and I doubt he will get back in the full England squad for a long time.

I think that he only keeps his place in the Under21 because of Stuart Pearce's influence.

It should not have been Dunnie who was sold it should have been Richards, in my humble opinion.

The trouble with Micah is he plays to narrow and tucks in close to the centre backs leaving the winger with to much time and space to put in a punishing cross, MH needs to tell him to stay close to his winger and stop the crosses comming in.
One other point if Ade had been playing he would have stopped at least one of Fletchers goals. How many times this year has he headed away crosses from opponents set plays. He is our first line of defence in the way he closes down defenders and from set pieces.

MR has probably got to where he is today mainly because of his physical strength and reasonable speed. This would have been a huge advantage in schoolboy football which ensured his succession but at the highest level, these are not the key parameters. Just think of all the top class winning teams/players from Brazil/Argentina/Spain/Italy and premier league imports ..not relatively huge physical players but ones that could dribble and pass as well as run at the right time as opposed to charging head down into a brick wall.

MR clearly lacks a good football brain and his ball skill is distinctly below average premier league standards as quickly recognised by Capelo.

MR can improve his positional skills with coaching (although you wonder why this has to start now).

Hope my views can be proved wrong over time but one "good" game against mediocre opposition will not change my view.

Sorry about this but I have to get this off my chest...

What the fuck was Micah Richards doing yesterday?. He was absouletly woeful his constant moaning to other players about them not covering HIS position was embarrasing. Every goal he was stood 6-10yards out of position and pointing and blaming other players for his fook up's. He took his eye of the ball and he was at fault all afternoon. It was like we were two players missing because he was a passenger and SWP had to keep tracking back to try and cover right back because Richards was in no mans land. His positioning for Owens goal was not even good enough for sunday league he just stood in the semi circle 10 yards out of position and din't even move.

I'll never know why MH didn't put Zab on it's a real mystrey i just can't believe he left him on for the 97 minutes when it was obvious from 2 mins (Rooney goal) he was having a nightmare.

I just hope MH gives Zab a run now because that showing by Richards was just plain crap.

P.S Toure and Lescott had mares too but i understand they are getting used to each other and will definetly come good sooner rather than later. Thank the lord for Shay Given or it could have been really embarrasing.

One final thing Big up to Bellers fookin legend.

dont blame richards for the 1st goal, SWP wasnt switched on, and Zab?? slow as fook, wouldnt bother. Richards was a tw@ tho..
