Bit worrying from the captain and fits with the general consensus of concern regarding this season

One for the anoraks on here; when's the last time we completed a competitive 90 minute game without a shot on target? I suppose it may not be as long as you'd imagine it to be. Not testing anybody, by the way; I don't know the answer.

Last nights debacle stemmed from a rotten defence. Walker at centre back with Cancelo and Gomez was always going to be a problem . Add to that Phillips in front left us very vulnerable and unstable. You could see how that affected the whole team. Surely a better plan would have play Walker at RB, Cancelo LB, Akanji CB.
I am getting sick of Guardiola constantly moaning about how tired the players are. They cover about 10-12 km in 90 mins, 5km in Haalands case.
The continuous rotation and introduction of complicated tactics is killing us.
PG is making the job far harder than it needs to be.

I think the comments regarding tiredness and the rotation personally has been needed to get mins into everyone's legs. I'd rather have shit performances now get everyone up to speed which I do feel like he's trying to do (kind of like a second preseason). Than having to have players come in cold when weve got an injury.

For me if isn't a coincidence that teams that didn't have many players go to the world cup or managed to have more friendlys in December rather than one ect are currently performing better than us. We will come good I think this game will have had the squad self reflect.

I know Pep said that any team he put out last night would have had the same result, i'm not sure why he's talking bollocks so much this season but it's pretty clear that is not the case. Walker had a great game the other night at right back, so what does Pep do? Play him at CB where he was completely shit against Chelsea. Cancelo looked decent when he came on at left back the other night, so what does Pep do? Play him at right back/right wing where he was absolutely gash against Chelsea. Phillips hasn't started a game for us yet, he clearly doesn't understand the 6 in how City play it, so it would have been prudent for him to be sitting with someone who does, even if it was Gundo? Sergio Gomez isn't a left back that can play at this level, Zinchenko took a couple of seasons to evolve his play but it always looked like he had the basics. I never really feel confident going forwards or backwards with this kid, he probably hit his level at Anderlecht. I know it's hard to blame 4 positions on a loss, but i think it completely affected the way we play and ran through the rest of the team like a disease. Once he did make the adjustment it was just too late.

There was no reason to play Cancelo at right back and Walker at CB, i know he wanted to rest Ake, Stones and Akanji, but if one of them had started and we wrapped up the game, they could have been rested.

An absolute shit-show of a performance, originating from the bench and feeding onto the pitch.
actually no he is correct. yesterday the reason was not tactics or personnel. it was simply the team did not want to compete and have the hunger to succeed. no one wanted to battle with the intensity of the saints. we probably never won a single duel either in the ground or in the air.

I agree and know what you mean, but it does feel like we are so far off from across the whole side at the moment. Not just a bad performance, it’s becoming the worst run of form I can remember from this set of players.

Pep and city set the targets at the start of the season and the league cup would be bottom of that list, I also feel when we pulled out Arsenal in the FA cup a league cup was semi finals vs Newcastle or United was never on the cards

we all know the main target this season
