Southampton (A) Post Match Thread

Large periods of exactly what you'd expect from a team of our quality at a busy stage of the season; control, slick play, dictating the pace. This was good to see after our wobble but some bad patches were still there and simple errors still dotted about.

Zinchenko is doing his best out of position but i think we'll see Laporte at LB for Liverpool, unless we go 3 centre halves (cant see it).

That's the dirtiest i remember a Soton side. Onwards to Liverpool.

The scummer twats definatley boo'd Bernardo when he was injured, some of the tackling by them was appalling, looked like they were on a mission to cripple Fernandinho. City fans were proper nosiey at the game, which was strangley edited by MOTD. If we have to got there again, avoid Yates, rip off bastards £4:70 a pint

Wish City would shoot more often when the chance presents itself.
I don't think they realised Bernardo was cut.

Impressive game from City but our luck changed. Ref could have easily have given a pen against Zinchenko. As it was he didn't and moments later we get a ricochet and are 2-1 up.

We need some luck against LFC too. If we beat them, I think we'll win the league comfortably. And I think we'll do it even if it's a draw. City will get better as KDB gets fit.

A fit KDB and we'd have beaten CFC, LCFC, CPFC comfortably. He turns 75% possession into clear goal-scoring chances.

Just like we have when an opposition player has received treatment on the pitch when he could easily walk off and receive treatment off the field of play so the game can resume
Every set of supporters does it
Why would any team purposely go down to ten men if a player is genuinely injured and can get treatment on the pitch, especially for a head injury and even more so if he was fouled. While it can be difficult to tell if it is a genuine injury and you can understand everyone's frustration at cheats, those that boo injured players are morons, no matter who they support.

Is it just me who thinks it's ridiculous that Austin could be in trouble for giving the v sign to the City fans? Yes, he did a poor tackle, got booked and was getting stick as he was subbed off. Most players will just ignore it, some will react. Big deal. Were any blues that were there seriously offended by what he did? Surely, a warning as to his future conduct would suffice.

I was more offended by Mane strangling Lichsteiner

you know the form on here mate, and it involves bricks, windows and burning houses...

It is why i want his backup/replacement sorted quick fast. Left back is an issue but i feel Fernandinho and his position is vital for giving the overall defense solidity. A tl;dr would be Fernandinho's position can effect the overall structure more than a left back therefore it should be our priority. If Mendy breaks down again after he returns then yeah that becomes pretty much as important.

A solid win, can't ask for much more really, bring on the dippers!
Could Zinchenko be the player to take on Fernandinho's position when he leaves/retires?

Not at all Jim, I did not notice it at the time, only saw it when I got back on MOTD. A word in his ear by Southampton is all thats needed. Not offended by it at all.
I'm with Baggy more offended by Mane strangling Lichsteiner and Salah's diving.
