Southampton (A) - Post Match Thread

Just watching the whole game back. Their goal – don't get me wrong, it's a great goal by Walker-Peters, he had to strike that just right to get past a keeper like Ederson from that angle. But Phil does definitely just let him go. I think Pep might have given him a bit of a bollocking for that.
Raz. Yes, Raz was poor. Ok, really poor. I wasn't quite so aware of it watching it live. I'd just like to remind people that he was head and shoulders MOTM against Chelsea, and has generally played really well in the last few matches. Let's keep a sense of balance.
My general feeling now is that Raz had given us very fine service, but that it might be good for his game and its development if he moved to one of the big European clubs. On the other hand, if he wants to stay, I'm good with that too!

Without being churlish or trying to deny the perfection of the shot, I doubt that Walker -Peters would ever score that goal again.

I think it was a perfect shot to beat Ederson in exactly the right spot, but certainly not convinced that he meant it.

As a spectacle this was a great watch. To be fair Southampton got a great goal (the question isn't whether he meant it (yes he did!) but rather could he do it again) and caused an out of tune City real problems. But even so City should have won, not just because we should have had a penalty, or because they should have bee reduced to ten or even because we had several near misses (so did they!) but because Raheem should have sent us in at half time level. But he didn't. Southampton are a good side and probably deserved their point but I can't believe that al lour pundits really believed we were going to win our final 28 league games on the spin!

I reckon he meant it but I really doubt he could execute it again. I think that Foden didn't think Walker Peters was a threat either

Amazing isn't it, it's almost as if the pundits were questioning Pep “Hmmmm… just drawn an away game there. Do you really think you've merited the title? If you win it?”

Nah, sorry, from the 30th minute on, we're bossing that game. We were decidedly poorer against Brentford and Arsenal, previous poster is absolutely right, and we took three points in both cases. We play that last game against anyone twenty times, we're winning it seventeen or eighteen of those. It's not grounds for complacency. But there's nothing fundamentally wrong with our game. A detail, of which there are many: Grealish's cutback on 27.20. That comes within an ace of going between their keeper's legs. Then it's a tap-in for Sterling with the entire goal vacant in front of him.
Do we need a striker? Yes. We're at the top of the table without one. Would we be even better with one of a level commensurate with the team? Very probably. With Haaland? Then they really could give us the trophy round about January.
